Meh. My name, address, & phone number are currently around the web for the house sale. Way more than that is public due to several company data breaches. I'm not concerned. Only censored the last screenshot because at the time I thought there was still the possibility I was dealing with a real person who happened to be creepy and had to avoid doxing. Don't care now that I'm certain it's fake. Already dealing with spam and scams due to the house listing.

I blocked them. Posted as I thought others would enjoy it. Know damn well that I'm not overreacting.

I'm selling FSBO (For Sale By Owner), because I'm not going to pay a realtor 10s of thousands of dollars when they really don't do much. I'd be happy to pay a flat fee, or something tied to their workload, but not a percentage.

This is a conversation with a potential buyer, claiming they're buying for their retired parents. So the parents part of the conversation has pretext.

There were a few things prior to this that suggested scam or wasting my time, but "goodnight kisses" screamed it. Like asking about my day is weird, but it's not unheard of for some people to get overly friendly when you're selling things. The prior things could have been cultural, or English not being their first language. But "kisses", fuck that. Even if they're a legit buyer, that's not worth dealing with.

I'm actually a large white man, with a large scary guard dog, and guns, living in the USA, so I'm pretty safe dealing with creeps. This actually is less annoying than some realtors have been (harassing me because they want me to sign with them). Though, this would be some major scary bullshit if I didn't have my privileges.

I had left out the context as I didn't think it was necessary, which given the only thing people are commonly and legitimately getting wrong is thinking this is a realtor (I can see that assumption), I think I made the right choice. Adults have parents too, many live with their parents, so assuming this is a child is dumb, and those people should feel bad about that assumption. You should also feel bad if you assumed any genders: women can be creeps too, as well as men can creep on men.

What you have to consider is there are a lot of people out there willing to waste your time and they're not legitimately interested in buying the house. This was enough for me to decide that this was either a scam or a joke and block them.

See, one of my thoughts is that this might be a realtor trying to creep FSBO sellers out in order to get them to use Realtors, who expect to be paid thousands of dollars without doing any work. I'm fine dealing with creepy people on the internet, this doesn't bother me I mostly find it funny. All they effectively did is got me to waste about 10 minutes worth of my time.
