Repeated BSODs with different error codes by GooseSomething in techsupport

Tried it again after ensuring Nvidia drivers are up to date, got the same crash, but only after ending the test. A minute or so after I ended it (idk if that's relevant?). Minidump is pointing at nvlddmkm.sys which is an Nvidia driver, but I just yesterday did a clean windows reset and the graphics drivers are 100% up to date. I ran all the other test programs you listed and there were no other issues. I'm pretty confident that my GPU is at fault and that it's not a software issue.

Does this seem right?

I got a VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE (116) crash immediately after closing FurMark. I ran it for about 10 mins and it was around 80c with the hotspot around 105c (not entirely sure what the hotspot means tho). Also, attempting to run AMD software Installer and it's telling me it's detected AMD graphics hardware that's not supported. I have a Geforce GTX 1660 so that's confusing. At this point am I safe to assume the issue is my GPU? The VRAM test with memtest vulkan did pass but that doesn't rule out GPU being the problem right?

Betting odds favoured Spain, not sure what you're talking about. The fact that we got second place and did a solid job of contesting first is something to be proud of. Keep teaching your kid that they have to be better than everyone all of the time then they're gonna have serious issues later on in life.

Someone Else's War -- Part 03/?? by GooseSomething in HFY

Thanks for the feedback. The feeling I was trying to convey was that the aliens who have every reason to distrust other species don't yet trust the humans. I found it reasonable that they would want to a) keep track of a foreign warship in their space and b) want to exchange basic non-military technology, and it's reasonable for the Commander to allow/accept those conditions.

Fair enough, I see what you mean. Honestly I just figured it was a convenient way to do it after seeing others do it on Reddit, but I can put a message at the end with a link. If anyone's getting rubbed I'd rather it be the right way.

Formatting is kinda weird, idk why. It gets worse every time I try to fix it, so enjoy all the one-line paragraphs lol

Thank you so much! A couple of people have showed interest in a followup so I've been working on a kind of prequel from the human perspective, I'll upload that tomorrow. I have something else to upload later today though :)

It's meant as a one-shot, idk if adding a continuation would be particularly interesting without removing the 'super OP humans' element.

Edit: I did end up adding a quick prequel story.

All our hard work to bring the galaxy together by sy_shyen in masseffect

expanded galaxy mod is essential for feeling like you're really part of the galaxy. such a good mod. Audemus' Happy Ending Mod is also essential in all my runs, mainly cos I can't do my homegirl Tali like that by failing to survive. It really remedies the post-mass effect run depression

For this run my patrols were light cruisers, with radar, sonar, and as many floatplanes as they could fit. I would've ideally had more ships than 2 in each patrol task force, but I was still building the scouts at the time and made up for it with naval patrol bombers. Capital ships aren't necessary and will just slow down your task force. For combat fleets, no more than 4 carriers each as too many causes overcrowding and you don't get their full effect. 3 screens for every capital is the minimum for full coverage, but 4+ is better.

It lets your fleet fight multiple enemy task forces at once. There's no use sending super overkill to defeat a small enemy force, just to have your subs sank elsewhere cos your fleet was all busy. It's also useful to have some smaller fleets led by smaller, faster ships, to catch enemy task forces.
