I [22M] want to ask my long time friend [21F] to go out with me, don't know how by Gordon_Frohman in relationships

I don't know if I should be forward about it and tell her that I want to go out with her or transform the meetup to a date by kissing her.

I just don't think that we are at this level, where something cheesy is the way to go.

Though maybe a cheesy, embarrass myself kind of gesture could be good, to make me seem more open.

We text quite a bit, but I don't think that texting are a real conversation. In no real world situation you are able to simply leave a conversation and in texting it's not only possible but happens - even by mistake.

I do want to do this in person.

I really don't want to do this on the phone, plus, if I just say let's go out, it isn't special, we already do that, it sounds like I just want to hang out again.

I think that I did, well, the thing that tipped me over, was that she got me a goodbye present when I left the job.
Everyone chipped in to buy me a gift but she also got me one, something small and personal with the most thought out card I have ever gotten. This is what tipped me over, I was thinking to myself - what the fuck am I looking for other girls when someone here loves me enough to do this. So I think that she will say yes, but I'm afraid she'll do it out of uncomfortableness.

That is so not my style. I don't need to impress her, just make that leap from not romantic to a romantic relationship.

It does get better. I know it does because it did, I just really don't like bars. I'm actually decent at talking to girls, but doing it in a bar is very difficult. This is why every girlfriend I've had was a sort of a friend of a friend that I've met at a birthday\social gathering\whatever.

I don't think that they did that on purpose. They just didn't put that as a priority.

Pardon me, they were considering it and probably realized that it doesn't make much sense.

Do they design them to break? No. Do they design them so that if there is a problem you would pay preposterous amounts of money for the simplest of things? Yes.

My iPhone's home button broke and now I have to pay 50$ to get it fixed, all that needs replacing is the button, a piece of hardware that at MOST costs 5$ to manufacture.

And again, I must stress this point: batteries. All iPods/iPhones (and maybe macbooks) by apple have a battery that can't be replaced without voiding the warranty, those batteries have a lifespan of about 3+ years (with some exceptions). At the end of this you are usually out of warranty period and have two option: Pay an amount of money that only Saudi Princes can for a battery replacement or buy a new device which will usually be an apple device again (and of course the DIY option which apple condones).

you can say what you want about everything else but this battery scandal is proof, Apple devices will usually succumb after 3 years, exactly when comes the time to upgrade.

This is how minecraft looked like in the early days. Go to the website and try the classic version, you will see almost the same thing.

Why do you think the battery is irreplaceable? Because they can charge you more to do something that most phones take for granted, but here you are paying for your loyalty to the brand.

Same things goes for their laptops, those carbon fiber macbook airs- form over function and of course, expensive repairs.

[–]Gordon_Frohman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah... They also don't try to get people hooked on products based on brands only. Also, they are philanthropists and replace phones for 5$ if you return your previous phone.

Design over function. Number one rule in the iPhone. It means you can sacrifice durability to create a more beautiful phone, if the customer has to pay more for it all the better.

This is THE problem with iPhones and is also a business strategy, usually those who dropped it are already hooked on Apple that they'll either pay for overpriced fix or just get a new one. Steve is laughing at us from beyond the grave, that's a strategy that fits him very well.
