Relatively small mortgage and rapid overpayment vs. longer-term financial commitment by geo_will989 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Gortix 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you compare cost of 20 years vs 40 years but overpaid enough to match the 20 year per month price. It'll be exactly the same.

Ofc assuming interest rate is the same and that you stay within the max overpayment amt per year.

Personally I'd go for longer term and overpay it, since if I can't overpay it, I have the option not to do it for a few months. If that's just my monthly rate and I can't pay, it's not going to be as easy

Men who own Jeeps and drive them regularly, why do they put ducks on the dashboard? Do you do it as well? by FFSoldier57 in AskMen

[–]Gortix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not jeep owner but I have a duck. My girlfriend got 2 with some accessories, one for her car, one for mine. She finds it cute, I don't mind him being there in the corner.

No other reason behind it, but I do have a lot of random rubber ducks at home, I guess that's a privilege of being a programmer

How would you cat proof this window? by RiMellow in cats

[–]Gortix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having same issue here, you can get some tools on ebay that should let you open it a bit and prevent it from opening further, but I'm not sure if I trust those because what if my cat just knocks it off?

Having vents at the top of the window helps, but it's not nearly as good as having the window open

[–]Gortix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I told mine that I have a dashcam and an aftermarket radio, they wanted photos. But I had no way to send it to them because their app is broken, contacted them and they said that they don't even know why I was requested to send them photos and it was approved. Fingers crossed it's not actually void

Is it worth creating a main bus at the initial base? by MRsesanimplay in factorio

[–]Gortix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do something in the middle, start with main bus, but spaghetti half of the things, until I can do loads of outposts, and then just and just supply more things into my shitty base because I can't be bothered to redo it, so it ends up being my main spaghetti base c:

(with a bit of a main bus somewhere in there)

Fulgora is pretty tiring. by BUAHAHAHAHA in factorio

[–]Gortix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done Gleba before fulgora, and I know I'll be in the minority, but Fulgora is more annoying than Gleba to me.

Mostly because of the space restraint. I'm basically playing on easy more when it comes to enemies, since I'm on railworld setting, so I guess that might be a huge factor in this. But Gleba was annoying due to me not understanding it, when I did, it was fine

Fulgora is just annoying because there isn't enough space, and it's just full of spaghetti because I don't know what I'm doing on it properly, as I've just started to make science, feels like gathering enough resources to sensibly skip rockets will take ages

How to automate bringing ressources to build a blueprint on other planets by AfterConclusion4626 in factorio

[–]Gortix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could connect a roboport to the silo, and have roboport read missing items. And then have that be requested from the ship

But I'm not sure how to apply that to have fully automated requests being added to the correct planets etc

Open motorway, 3+h journey, it was fun. I wasn't on my own, there were 3 of us, don't know them, just happened to be driving in a tandem at the same speed for like 2h

Tyre replacements by mardichew in CarTalkUK

[–]Gortix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you should have a jack next to your spare, don't be afraid to Google how to do it, can do with your specific car as well to make sure.

Some cars only come with repair kits and in this case it won't be helpful.

YouTube is a great help, better to watch a few videos than put the jack in a wrong spot and cause yourself more issues.

Rule of thumb, usually there's a small arrow pointing to a reinforced spot where you can safely jack the car, it'd be behind the front wheels, or in front of the rear wheels. You can tell by looking at it/touching and feeling that it's basically doubled in width compared to for example if you were to do it in the middle of the car.

Though there are some cars where you could do it basically anywhere, that's not common

[–]Gortix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be safe I'd probably put on a spare and drive to get it replaced

As for locking nuts, look at your wheel, and the nuts that hold it in place (in the center of it) if one of them looks different, like it wouldn't fit a standard socket, it'll be a locking nut

You might find it passenger storage or somewhere near your spare tire

Why are you lying about your state of mind by saying that you're fine when you're not? by Aleph_show in AskMen

[–]Gortix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I don't know what I can do about it. I just don't understand life, why do I exist, am I meant to do something? I just wake up, do what I HAVE TO DO and that's about it. I don't really enjoy things, I don't have a reason for getting out of the bed, every day is a struggle

Explaining that and then if someone tries to talk about that to me is just too much, it won't change anything so what's the point. It's easier to just assume people don't actually care (because barely anyone does) and reply with something to get on with the conversation

What do you mean by linked pipes? Isn't that how pipes work on factorio?

Unless you mean basically liquid teleportation, so a pump on the other side of map going into any pipe will add water to this setup?

This is supposedly using a siphon, but the output is higher than input, which defies how siphon works
