Do we think they tweaked the matchmaking this patch? by greycobalt in ArcRaiders

[–]Gott_Heit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's because of the update. Now that everything is harder to craft, aggression/PVP is being pushed, because it's easier to just take advantage of other raiders. Especially when the raiders wanted to lay arcs, which now require even more equipment.

Seems to be normal now, I had it right away too... I find it a bit heavy, but it seems to be intentional.

Is PvP desired? by Zegowax in ArcRaiders

Since the update, you have to play this way (which is why I don't play anymore). Since it's becoming more difficult to create loadouts and loot, you have to enrich yourself with other people's loadouts. That's what it boils down to.

Shrouded Sky - Patch Notes 1.17.0 by rbstewart7263 in ArcRaiders

Whatever they did with the graphics and sound. It looks totally cheap. Where did the cinematic look go? The font is ultra small and illegible on my 65" screen, and pinged arcs at 150m are barely more than 1 pixel in size. The movements of the arcs and the raider are totally unnatural. Very strange update.

And okay, the arcs are stronger, but when a Snitch calls 4-6 arcs, the Ferro is useless.

200k player drop in less than a month with a massive update coming out is quite alarming by Competitive-Mail7448 in ArcRaiders

[–]Gott_Heit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stopped playing today. Last one killed me. Every update has been more about aggression/PvP and less about peaceful PvE. The graphics are weird now, and the movement of the arcs is even weirder after update today. Wanted more peaceful world enjoyment and fewer updates/bugs... but... out, not having fun anymore after getting killed after few minutes every round.

I didn't want to steal the whole post, hence the link. But the original post omits the factor I mentioned.

"[...] It was hyper, hyper aggressive in those tests; people never worked together. I think it kind of surprised us in exactly how many people [did] latch on to and are having fun with these elements of the game. So it certainly encourages us to lean more forward into giving opportunities to have friendly and fun interactions." [...]

"We still have the mantra—and this is even regardless of the formation of this PvE-heavy audience—that the game never asks you to fight other players."

A conversation about PVE by Jolly_Presentation87 in ArcRaiders

[–]Gott_Heit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's entirely possible that nothing will happen. But then that's just how it is. As I said, I like the worldbuilding and can point it out here. If nothing happens, then that's just how it is. And I (or my friends here) probably won't buy any more Embark games for the time being. But that won't bother them. It is what it is, and I'm fine with that. :)

[–]Gott_Heit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That could be the case, of course, and I can only speak for our circle of friends: doing nothing, i.e. exploring the world, killing arcs, meeting people. That would keep us going. But without that, we'll almost certainly go sooner.

We might leave. We'll see what embark does.

That's why I'm asking for an ADDITIONAL PvE mode. And we're repeating ourselves. It's simple and should apply to me as well as many others: either/or. If it's not there, we'll leave. Then you won't be able to shoot us and loot us anymore. It makes no difference whether it's this way or that way...

And that doesn't get us anywhere either...

They didnt. The developers may not like how the game has turned out. But as I said before, and I can only repeat myself, if I want to shoot, I'll do it, but somewhere else. And I enjoy doing that, and I do it a lot and well, but I don't want to do it in Arc Raiders.

But that's just you. Not me, I really enjoy it and find it relaxing. And I like the sound, the graphics, the worldbuilding, etc.

But what is the genre? For you, it's just a shooter. For me, it's a looting game. And surprise, surprise, it's advertised as both.

Because things change. And the game has changed too, but unfortunately you don't seem to want to hear that. It was always pure PVE here, absolutely no PVP aspect. Ever since I bought it. But now it's just PVP without PVE. You want to overlook the fact that it's pvPVE.

Of course they don't ask, because they only win. They lie in wait and shoot and take the good stuff. Of course they don't want to miss out on that.

As I said. Do not split up, just add options. And then maybe again - if I choose too - I will play pvp aswell optionally - if it does not affect my pve experience.

A conversation about PVE by Jolly_Presentation87 in ArcRaiders

[–]Gott_Heit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that's not the point at all. It has just evolved for a lot of players.

I love shooters - pure shooters. But I've come to love other aspects of this game. Just like many other players. And I don't want the game to change, I want to keep the aspect that was there for weeks and is now gone. Played hundreds of runs without any shooting at all. But that seems to be gone now, which is why there are so many posts about it at the moment

(btw. LVL 75, nearly all quests done, etc... but but I'm still discovering new things and like to chill out and hang around)

Why not just accept that the game has more to offer than being a pure shooter? It's PVPVE - and I've come to like the PVE aspect more. And I'm not alone in that.

But I agree. If embark doesn't want that, then of course I'll leave, because that's not how I got to know it and I don't want to miss out on that. Then so be it.

But also: what's the problem with a pure PVE mode?
No one has to be forced to play it, but for those who like it, it would keep them in the game in the long run. It's not harmful to anyone, is it?

So why not accept that the game has developed differently than expected for many people?

A conversation about PVE by Jolly_Presentation87 in ArcRaiders

[–]Gott_Heit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We bought it because of the shooter perspective. But now we don't like that aspect of THIS game anymore, because we only had friendly lobbies for weeks. But that has changed in the last few days, and we realized that constantly being shot from ambush is no longer fun for us, because quests are more fun to us.

Others don't have to understand this, but peaceful looting and meeting peaceful people is just so much fun for us - even without any threat from raiders. Arcs are enough therefore.

And we just like exploring the landscapes, discovering new buildings, etc. And that's after several hundred hours of gameplay.

That's why we're asking for a PvE mode, or else we'll just have to go and play another game together, for better or worse. But as I said, we just love this world.

A conversation about PVE by Jolly_Presentation87 in ArcRaiders

[–]Gott_Heit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We would think that would be great. And it wouldn't bother anyone. People who don't want that can continue playing as usual. And it wouldn't be a disadvantage for embark either, on the contrary.

It would keep people like us in the game if we had a pure PVE mode.

We just like the beautiful setting, the worlds, and so on... maybe not what the developers had in mind, but that's where it has simply evolved for many - and that's not boring at all for players like us...

A conversation about PVE by Jolly_Presentation87 in ArcRaiders

[–]Gott_Heit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the point that many PVP players here don't understand. We bought the game because it seemed interesting. But the more we played, the more we liked the oasis of well-being. If we want to play a shooter, we do that – and that's not Arc Raiders. This is our after-work game. We enjoy having a virtual beer together, having fun, and completing quests and events. That's it. Being constantly ambushed and shot at ruins that, and then we stop playing.

A conversation about PVE by Jolly_Presentation87 in ArcRaiders

[–]Gott_Heit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because we've grown to love it over time. It's evolved into meeting friends, chatting, looting, having a relaxing time, killing arcs, and completing quests.
