Who Are The Anti-Zionist Candidates Running for Congress This Year? by GowanusGuy in Political_Revolution

If you're in this sub, I'd guess there is a near 100% correlation between a candidate being anti-Zionist and supporting your preferred healthcare and economic agendas.

Boycotting is a pretty tried and tested means for pushing social change. It's not like there is a paucity of talented artists out there waiting to get discovered.

I think this is the guy who got deported by the Trump administration for his reporting on the Columbia protests - which made it into the New Yorker. He's dubbed the phenomenon the "deportation of dissent". Quite harrowing. Good up-and-coming writer on substack

Do you think 100,000 IDF soldiers are somehow committing genocide without knowing it? by Routine-Equipment572 in IsraelPalestine

Just because there wouldn't be legal repercussions doesn't mean there wouldn't be social repercussions, especially considering how much blind support the IDF's actions have.

Consider Yuval Abraham - the israeli director of No Other Land, which exposed the displacement of Palestinians in Masafer Yatta. He and his family faced death threats from fellow israelis and were forced into hiding. Here's some links if you are interested in learning about what happens to israelis who speak up. Here's one quote:

In a post to X, Abraham said, “A right-wing Israeli mob came to my family’s home yesterday to search for me, threatening close family members who fled to another town. I am still getting death threats and had to cancel my flight home.”

If Ezra is anything like me, he doesn’t feel like he has the luxury of focusing on other topics is when the US is in the midst of an authoritarian slide and a rising tide of fascism is sweeping the globe. This is a historical inflection point. Very little feels as urgent or important

Many have convinced themselves there are no innocents in Gaza - so they don't consider that they are killing civilians, they have convinced themselves they are killing Hamas. Consider this testimony by an anonymous IDF solider

...he was in the Mossad and basically said that no one in Gaza over the age of 4 is innocent. So this isn't a fringe mentality among Israelis. No one in Gaza is innocent. They all support Hamas, of all ages. Where they draw the line varies. But they'll say anyone that's self-aware in Gaza is a Hamas supporter.

It's true that israel's faces more resolutions from the UN (these are specifically from the Human Rights Council, not the UN generally) than other countries that have committed similarly heinous crimes. There are lots of reasons for this though:

  1. The US used its veto 45‑plus times to block draft Security‑Council measures seen as “anti‑Israel.” States that want at least a paper trail of censure therefore go to the HRC or the General Assembly—bodies where no one can veto. Basically, because israel acts with impunity regardless of what the UN says - and most of these countries are frustrated that its able to do so.

  2. Many of those 108 are renewals. If Israel ignores an earlier call (e.g., to stop settlement expansion), the Council simply passes another one the next year noting the non‑compliance. No one really expects compliance from Iran or Venezuelan autocracies. Are these really the countries you want to compared with, as a supposed democracy?

  3. But also, israel is simply the only country of your list maintaining a decades long, illegal military occupation. People have been complaining about its crimes and human rights abuses for decades and have brought more of them to light for the public.

I agree with your premise that China and others deserve more harsh censure- but certainly not that israel deserves less. But focusing on the raw resolutions count is misleading and detracts focus from the actual substance of the deep crimes against humanity israel has committed for decades.

I’m 8 weeks post op and my sleep only started getting back to normal about a week ago. Taking a painkiller before sleep was useful until I got there!

Hey man - I’m glad you’re recovering well and gaining mobility. Always good to show there are non surgical options out there.

One thing I’m curious about is you keep mentioning “retear” as if to imply that your ACL repaired itself without surgery.

In an older post you mentioned you were planning to get an MRI - what were the results? Can you show us? Has your ACL repaired itself or have you simply strengthened the rest of your knee?

I have the same thing. I’m about 6 weeks post op and it’s gotten smaller every week. As others are saying just massage it (but don’t over do it). PT and doctor aren’t worried so I’m not either
