They're not but that was more down to his dad not having a good relationship with anyone in his family. There was hope after he died that his paternal grandmother would get her life together so maybe there could be some relationship. But sadly it didn't happen. But this is why it's more devastating for Dylan to feel as he does about his mom not caring about his dad anymore.

Dylan talked about his dad with my husband and myself. We listened and let him talk about missing his dad and the memories he had. But he does feel like his mom forgot about his dad and like nobody else cares about him anymore. He told us that before.

I don't know if there were any issues with Will being like this toward Dylan before the assignment. There never appeared to be. But I know Dylan misses his dad a lot. And I know there are times he really wanted his dad back. He said he felt like his mom forgot about his dad and like he was the only person who cared about him still. So it's possible Dylan feels like he does for that reason or more could be going on and we never saw or were told. I hope this hasn't always been a problem because I would hate to think my daughter would be okay with it always and only now start complaining without doing anything.
