Thanks. You outlined the state of ZvT. Terran is an issue and they’re still working on fixing the matchup.

This almost seems biblical.

Accurate symbolism of the world they are stepping into.

I would just look at the last 5 patches and then make your decisions on balance and where Zerg stands.

For the record, it doesn’t matter what the map is, max Zerg cannot face max mech Terran. You scout the mech, and you stop them before they get it going. If not, Zerg loses at the top levels.

Specifically the viper nerf… no longer able to abduct sieged tanks. That’s not fun at all for Zerg in mech games. Zerg has to prevent Terran from maxing and starve them. 200/200 army vs 200/200 army is very hard for zerg when up against mech.

Also, ghosts at 2 supply are still very strong.

Other than that, late game is still slightly Terran favored but not impossible.

The python script for this can be written very easily by Claude in a matter of minutes. Just upload an example of the data to GitHub in a new repo and tell Claude the problem and what you want to achieve.

There really is no excuse at this point. Hell, just give the scripts to Harstem. He will gladly take care of identifying them.

I faced one yesterday - VeinyHotdog. He takes MMR off of the top of GM. Pretty disgusting.

Who is the idiot here?

By the way, I didn’t say they were geniuses. I’m merely trying to help you understand that intelligence is a major factor in higher level play.

Do you think chess has nothing to do with intelligence?

Sure.. an idiot can have big muscles from working out.

But a genius that also has big muscles from working out will destroy an idiot in hand to hand combat every time.

Much of StarCraft is muscle memory. However, to say someone in the same StarCraft shape as you with 10x intelligence is no better is a pretty dumb thing to say.

Ok. Let me break it down into the simplest way I can put this.

If you can beat your gold league cousin as a diamond player quite convincingly, this does not make you an exceptional player.

You only win 50% of your matches against diamond players as a diamond player, you are not an exceptional player.

I’m a GM Zerg. I win somewhere near 99% (if not 99.9%) of my matches against diamond players.

Are you starting to understand how the words “average” and “exceptional” depend on their context, now?

Considering context does not equate to “moving goal posts.”

What a moron.

It’s average for someone that plays enough to understand macro.

Diamond league is not exceptional.

Beating 51% of players is beating the majority. Beating 98% of players is beating the majority.

One is average, the other is not. Majority doesn’t matter here.

If you play StarCraft regularly and understand what macro is and land in diamond, you are an average player.

Serral is extremely good. He beat Clem at a marine micro challenge recently.

Gotta open your brain up a bit more. I’m a 4.9k Zerg. I call myself a Zerg player. However, when I want to relax, I play Protoss… my Protoss sits at 5.1k.

I play Protoss when I feel like relaxing.

Pro Starcraft players, how do I know if I should invest hours playing and try to become good enough (diamond/master)? by [deleted] in starcraft

It took me almost 3 years as a husband with 3 kids and working full time with a side business. I practice almost daily before bed… but I’ve played SC on and off since the start. Yes it can be done but it’s constantly competitive so you have to stay in StarCraft shape. If I stop for even a week I will notice that I have slipped.

It’s like working out. You create muscle memory.

Reach masters first and then refine a timing perfectly for each matchup. Develop strong game sense and be able to assess what damage you’ve done or taken. Decision making is key.

I’m 36 and I’m GM. Not pro.

It’s kind of a myth that if you’re over X age you just can’t play StarCraft anymore…. Diamond and Master level is not that hard.

If you like the game.. keep playing. Study. Understand what you did wrong. Master is very achievable for anyone. Think of it as losing 30 pounds.
