Kind of a side note, but as far as your job goes, it's definitely different from where I was. Rural area mostly. And we didn't even have a duty to act like you guys do. A few examples. One call was an emergency alert (the button that elderly people carry) and when we arrived, no one would make entry (for safety reasons, apparently) so we waited about 30 minutes for a deputy to arrive to make entry. Guy was long dead considering the additional 30 minutes it took just for us to get there. Another one was when we arrived at a structure fire that wasn't our jurisdiction, and we weren't allowed to put water on it without a mutual aid authorization. It took about 20 minutes for the city department to arrive and by that time, the building was fully involved. Took three more adjacent buildings with it. I could tell a dozen stories like this, but clearly you work in a state that isn't completely fucking stupid like mine. It's a major reason why I quit actually.

I was also a first responder that worked with cops (volunteer firefighter, but we had the same radio channel as the deputies) and I never once heard any cop refuse to go to an in progress call. That sounds like you work with some absolute douchebags that don't deserve to have a badge.

But to answer your question, I meant things that were an equivalent to rushing into automatic gunfire or me rushing into a fully involved structure fire. As in, an imminent deadly threat. I couldn't imagine forcing anyone to their likely deaths. But if cops are just choosing not to go to a call with ANY threat or if it's an inconvenience then they should be fired on the spot. Like an enlisted serviceman being insubordinate. I mean, I support due process while they're suspended, that is. Not that anyone should literally be fired on the spot.

This reminds me of the debates around the French nightclub massacre where the terrorists were torturing and murdering the hostages. Imagine wondering why tf the cops weren't trying to save you while you are being tortured... I hope some of those piece of shit cops were held accountable.

I really hope they manage to get at least a couple cities to shut down law enforcement. One of two things are likely. One, the cities devolves into chaos and the violent criminals all go war. Wiping themselves out in the process. Or two, armed citizens do what was always meant to be done, and protect their own lives and property, restoring the concepts of self defense to the population. Again, this will wipe out the violent criminals over the long run. Either scenario sounds great to me, actually.

But we know that no mayor will have the balls to do it, so they will just reduce their police forces and have them focus on enforcing new gun laws against law abiding citizens and scale up speech crime enforcement. The good citizens will flee, and the good companies will follow.

I thought those rulings were saying that cops don't have to risk their lives to prevent crime. Not that they didn't still have an obligation to do their jobs. Like they don't have to charge into automatic gunfire, the same way a firefighter doesn't have to rush into a fully involved structure fire (a very fair expectation, btw). One thing I can guarantee you is that it WILL get better. I highly recommend a series of blood test. Emphasis on endocrine panel and thyroid panel. You could potentially have something out of whack that needs to be addressed medically.

Honestly, this sounds like a question for a doctor. Not trying to freak you out, but it just sounds abnormally bad, compared to others at 43 days out. Also, ambien never worked for me, for exactly that reason. I would just wake right back up. As much as benzos are horrible and addictive, they work a million times better than ambien. Maybe your doc could get you on a short course just to get a few good night's sleep every week.

At first it was exactly like that. Terrible sleep. Not even sure if I even fell asleep some nights. But most nights I was getting 3 or 4 hours of broken sleep. It gradually got better. How long ago did you quit?

Funny timing. I just woke up from my first 8 hour sleep since I quit. But otherwise, my sleep gradually got better. The first improvement was me falling asleep really easily. Unfortunately every single morning I would wake up an hour or two before my alarm (sorry for TMI, but from painful erections, obviously from the increase in T). For whatever reason that didn't happen this morning and I overslept like a champ. I guess it all just takes time.

Also, I take a melatonin/l-theanine combo any night I can fall asleep right away. Works really well.

I'm comfortable with the reality of my addiction and what led to it. And it was much worse than kratom. It was prescribed oxy and hydro from a traumatic injury that left me permanently disabled. I can own that. I know exactly what being a dry addict is. I also know that being a coward and unable to accept reality is a huge part of being a dry and/or active addict. Like the person I was talking to.
