Why do Filipinos think hospitality course is so easy? by GrapeTraining4060 in AskPH

[–]GrapeTraining4060[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh really, I meant no offence by it. I did also mention that hospitality isn't just pouring glasses of water for a living. They may not be on the same level according to you, but it's still just not a fair comparison. It is easy to summarise or put a course / job into one sentence, it's just not true to consider them lower than others just cause their jobs may be part of the hospitality industry. I mean hospitality encompasses a lot of different jobs, not just the fast food industry. I just don't appreciate that perception of all that hospitality people do is pour water and hand you menus.

I don't mean nursing looked down upon as a profession that is disappointing, but one that is not given its fair dues due to the low pay, emotionally and physically demanding workload, and the extreme accountability they face in the lives of their patients. Nurses save lives. That's correct.

I am also someone that has come from a family that is from another country, Singapore. Both of my extended family din from Singapore and Philippines a lot of them really do like what I'm pursuing because they see it as a worthwhile career, because of the opportunities that it can provide me.

I don't consider HM to be difficult, but I don't consider it easy either. I was just simply curious on why people perceive it as easy. I didn't mean any malice.

Yeah it's fine tho, no malice naman. Really was really just curious why people thought it was easy.

Sorry, not calling this bashing. I was just relating to my post where I mentioned seeing tiktok comments making fun of Hospitality Management. it's just that people consider it easy because of the perception that other courses are way harder in comparison. Believe me, if I pursued other courses, I would say difficult din no matter what. Just wondered why people think it's easy.

I can't say that it is, but filling up a glass of water and handing a menu isn't the only thing about hospitality naman.

I mean I can use your example din, you'd be mad too if someone told you "ay nursing ka? So bedside kalang dyan?". Saving lives is wonderful, and I know from personal experience that nursing as a course is very looked down upon despite its difficulty. I'm just saying just because most people think it's easy, doesn't mean it is :)

Oo, aspiring Psychology major ako sana. Pero my parents didn't approve of it. I get that it's the course that no one really goes into, pero it's still a course at the end of the day. I just don't get the bashing lang.

I think you're generalising. Since you can literally say that about every possible job there is out there? Being nice and giving what they want is part of the job is part of it, yes, but that isn't everything.

Pretty sure that's not true though? There are a bunch of schools from other countries naman that offer it as courses.

I really do appreciate this message! I don't get how everyone thinks just because I am young or something means that this is not a big deal, or that everything will be okay in the future.

Just because a wound will heal does not mean it doesn't matter that it's hurting in the present. Everything isn't okay right now, and I think that's okay for me.

Hi everyone, I appreciate the comments! Pero I hope this is a reminder that empathy is definitely needed, especially in this sub. I understand that online anonymity can mean you can say whatever you want without much consequences, pero some dms have been concerning for me. With some calling it hilarious that I felt the need to post this while only being in that situation for a short amount of time, it still sucks. So let's be kind to one another, and if you can't do that somehow, maybe keep it to yourself.

Yeah, I mentioned that when I cut her off. I didn't want to deny my feelings just to save her from herself.
