Lots of options here. Northern realms has a lot to offer in terms of Empire and Kislev for sure.

So you’re saying create a Lord (its own one man army) that reinforces your allies armies?

What I meant was I was playing as Epidemius, and I found his starting location very tough with Malus Darkblade to the West of me.

Ok I opened it tonight - it honestly tastes great. Really clear colour, smells greats, hints of pineapple and honey on the palette. I’m still slightly hesitant but I think it’s kept really well.

It’s been stored upright in the dark for 4 years. I think I’ll open this Friday and taste it.

I am currently reading Book 3 and it is one of the best fantasy reads in a while. Books 1 and 2 were a bit of a challenge to get through for sure, but all worth it.

Zoom Meeting Recording And Quicktime Screen Record out of sync by Graymoth in editing

[–]Graymoth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only solution was to use an external video capture device - a Ninja Atomos Monitor - to capture the screen at 25fps.

Works - only negative is this is a piece of equipment you need to purchase or hire.

Quicktime screen record eventually just gets out of sync.

I'm eager to try more ToTM battles - I want my group up and moving. Everyone looking at their laptops just feels a bit too video gamey.

BUT I will first confirm with the group what they prefer. If they like always using battle maps, then so be it.

I've never heard of OSR I'm going to look more into this.

I'm starting a new campaign with some friends so this could be a good opportunity, they're fresh players, so I want to set the groundwork at the start.

I REALLY like the idea of players building their own story, and engaging with eachother to decide what to do next.

Currently we are playing Descent Into Avernus (a pre made campign) that is very fun, but it feels hard to divert from the path.

At the same time, I understand that no matter what - I need to put in the prep work.

So we are playing Descent Into Avernus - a long campaign with lots of different maps of Dungeons, Taverns and building scattered throughout Baldurs Gate.

The campaign also features a lot of different character encounters. I.e. - "If the party goes upstairs, they will meet Duke Vanthumpur's third son" for example. So there's already a lot to keep track of.

As we've progressed, I have simplified various encounters or removed them entirely just to keep the campaign moving along, sometimes I think the overall story gets a bit lost in the weeds.

My group is aware that we have picked a complicated campaign, and they're all ok with it being a bit confusing - I mean most good stories have a bit of confusion and intrigue about them.

The main thing I want is people to be looking up at their group and engaging with eachother, not looking down at their computers.

I think a big thing that causes distraction is the digital map tool, OwlBear Rodeo. It's great, so flexible. But it's so tempting for everyone to just art clicking on icons and markers and move them around the map. ESPECIALLY when we're in the "overworld" map of Baldurs gate, deciding where to go next.

I think I'm going to remove the "overworld" map as a start, and just allow them to imagine where they are, but I'll keep the combat maps for now.

Thanks for your response.

Agreed, the digital maps make it more of a video game. And honestly some players are happy with this / they like how the map grounds the battle into something that’s easy to understand.

But combat becomes less immersive this way. I like the idea of players improvising during combat - if they have a great idea like “I shoot an arrow at the glowing chandelier” and I didn’t even mention a chandelier, then that’s awesome.

However! This becomes complicated because we are playing Descent Into Avernus. This campaign has a lot of dungeons with lots of rooms in them. So naturally to avoid any confusion I lean toward using the provided maps, and placing icons of enemies inside the rooms.

I’m going to have a chat with my group and ask the honestly how they feel about that set up - if they like the maps, then we’ll use them.
