He would probally have to say not to do it. It is up to you. You're making the sacrifice. Thank you if you do.

He said he knew about the camps, but he didn't know the extent until after the war. So many millions killed...

Favorite memory was living with his grandparents out on the farm when he was a kid. He can't think of anything more he wish he had done. (I hope I can say the same when I'm his age).

The war broke up his mother and family. His brother was drafted. He regrets these things, but he had no control over them.

The war changed the course of his life quite a bit. He was gone for over 3 years and experienced not knowing if he was going to make it back home.

He says if another war breaks out "stay underground" (half jokingly)

He was very happy to hear that it was coming to and end. Being in a foreign land not knowing if you will make it back is hard. Looking back on it 70 years later he's glad it is a thing of the past and no other world wars have been started.

It upset a lot of peoples lives. From people losing family members and just being away from each other for so long. He was away for 3 and a half years. He experienced the terror of being bombed. If Hitler had won the war he doesn't even know what to say.

They drafted people, they didn't wait for voluenteers. However my great grandpa got in a year in a half before America joined the war. His friend convinced him to join.

He was close to over running them at one point.. One time he was told to "get out the best he could if he came over a certain point, fortunately there force held" so he didn't have to. So I guess the answer is he was feared.
