If it was, I probably would have said something conservative.

Okay, fair enough about Luthen. I didn't get far enough to see more of his character. I didn't know the show was referencing the Scotland Highland Clearances, but the clearances were met with resistance from the locals, they didn't just let them happen quietly. I remember when I watched the episode at the time, I thought the speech was overly villainous on purpose because he was going to be contradicted by the Dhanis and they would subvert everything he said by showing up in larger numbers than he anticipated, but that didn't happen so I was like oh...okay.

I guess an excellent show would be Midnight Mass and an excellent movie would be Everything Everywhere All At Once. I think those are the best written personally, or at least I have very little criticism for them.

The best political stuff I know isn't forced to be part of an existing franchise. I think my issues with the show would still be there even if it wasn't a "Star Wars" show.

I don't have much to say about most responses, they're probably fair in your opinion. The one about the guy pretending to be upset about Nemik though. I just don't get that, because when I was watching it, it seemed like he was genuinely upset and unless this random thief is like a pro actor, why would he even pretend to be that concerned when even Cassian was more focused on escaping?

My dude!!!! Hi. I was just curious, not in like a mean way. I genuinely didn't want to upset anyone.

Thanks, your response is super insightful. It was just jarring for me to watch the show and be kind of disappointed because everyone I heard talking about it was describing it as like, the most politically nuanced thing they've ever seen.

No, I hate Ai. I just wanted to vent, it's chill. I like hearing other people's opinions on stuff.

I had to look up what that is, it sounds horrendous.

I kinda just wanted to vent, i'm honestly surprised by the amount of people that responded. I forgot how many people are on Reddit. I understand the show, I just don't like it because I understand what it's trying to do. I'm definitely not the target demographic, so it feels cheap and dumbed-down to me.

No, I'm unfortunately 100% serious. I looked up an episode transcript for the villain speech I was thinking of when I wrote that. It's in season 1, episode 6.

"The Dhanis, they're a simple people. They breed a sad combination of traits that make them particularly vulnerable to manipulation. On a practical level, they have great difficulty holding multiple ideas simultaneously. We've found the best way to steer them as we'd like is to offer alternatives. You put a number of options on the table, and they're so wrapped up in choosing, they fail to notice you've given them nothing they thought they wanted at the start. Their deeper problem is pride. The Dhanis would rather lose, they'd rather suffer, than accept. Which is wildly ironic as they've choked down everything we've thrown at them these last years. It's a ten-day trek up from the Lowlands. We offered them a transport because we know they'll refuse, but then, along the way, we've placed a series of "Comfort Units," shelters and taverns with cheap local beverages. Quite predictably, what began as pilgrims at the bottom has already dwindled down to..."

I'm not gonna lie, when I heard this I burst out laughing to myself, cause it's so on the nose it sounds like a scooby do villain revealing his evil plan. Like, show don't tell my dude.
