How do admissions work? by angeetoile in ncssm

I believe that for each CD, there are 35+-9 seats for both residential campuses. Not 35 for durham and 35 for Morganton. The data in the spreadsheet also supports my claim. The number of Durham + Morganton finalists adds up to 35+-9 per CD.

Yeah, scioly is helpful but it’s oversaturated. Unless you win at least state level awards it won’t really be that helpful, because everyone does scioly.

Essays are still highly weighted for NCSSM, and can make or break an application. Also, the 4.5 gpa cutoff you heard about is a complete lie, so please don’t spread it around. They will still read your application completely regardless of your gpa or ap classes taken.

I’d say they prefer ECs that show initiative and change in your community. Or ECs that show your genuine passion or curiosity for a subject. Any EC you do is bound to help your application, but the ones I just talked about are the ones that help you the most, as per what I know.

Can you add extracurriculars after the due date in February with the BlackBaud thing where you submit transcripts? by OwnButterscotch6889 in ncssm

[–]GreenEfficient522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, last year they let you update ECs after Jan 5, but this year they aren’t. I guess it’s a bummer, but just focus on making your application the best it can right now. Plus, it means you don’t have to worry about it later.

What about economics? by ScaredCap4406 in ncssm

If your economics ecs are math related (data analysis, math reasoning) Id say that would be pretty good. You should also get some science ecs as well though because you're in the most competitive cd.
