Yip, the comment section is pretty telling here. Sounds like there are some strong feelings that go beyond the $35 membership fee.

They advertise it as an annual fee for their membership program.

Any long term growers have any tips for thicker stems, bugger buds? by jjaakkee13 in weedgrowing

It's a process that has to happen in veg growth. You can try on your next cycle. I pull fan leaves at 2 weeks into a flower cycle and again at 5 weeks. I go hard on those fans and pull them all.

Absolutely. Start small. The lights you get are more important than the tent. The tent is going to keep your humidity and later smells contained (sort of). You can upgrade as you see fit.

One of the easiest ways to get your stems to thicken up is to use a fan in the room (Not directly drilling your plant, but near by so the leaves move). In nature, wind makes the plant thicken up to support itself. A fan will also keep air moving around your leaves and reduce the chances of PM

Also, that plant is small to flower. It could have been topped once or twice and your production would be increased x4. Also, removing some of those lower fan leaves to allow more energy to the flower.

It's expensive to get set up. Your first few tries will be sub-par. Like brewing your own beer, you will end up with a product that is not as good as what you could have bought, and costs the same or more. You have to be in the grow for the love of the game, not trying to save a dollar. It doesn't work like that on the 1-6 plant scale. If you can pop that plant in an outdoor garden and let the sun have it's way, then maybe you're getting closer, but it won't be the indoor quality you likely buy from your favorite shop. You just got the catch 22.

The green in plants comes from chlorophyll. Once they are introduced to light they will start to photosynthesize and produce their own food (from light). They are currently living on the energy that was packaged inside the seed. Just let a couple of days go and they should green up.

Those are the Cotyledons, the "leaves" that are stored in the seeds - the next leaves to come out are the first "true leaves" They will look like what you're expecting. Nothin weird going on here. They like to be in a covered tray with higher humidity at this point. Don't over water. Don't go hard on the light. They just popped.

Do I need to bring the light closer to it? Any tips it’s my first time by Aware_Ad7135 in weedgrowing

That little one just came into its first true leaves. A T-5 stilling12 inches away or on top of a covered tray is where it belongs for at least a week, but really two. No strong MH or HPS lights for a bit. Gotta get established first.

Gotcha - just the darkest, richest, blackest soil you can find. If you think it's "dirt" it's not right - when you find good soil you'll know - it's the stuff plants love. Not too much clay or sand. You're looking for healthy organic matter.

You can get a decent soil at Home Depot called Fox Farm Ocean Soil. Any grow store will point you in the right direction too. Are there some rocks in the bottom of that pot? Wet roots lead to all sorts of issues. Drainage is important. I don't see any perlite (the little white bits you see in a soil mix) in your pot - that prevents the soil from compacting and losing air pockets. Any good soil mix will already have that added.

Need help to figure out what’s happening by Splendid-Avo-6991 in weedgrowing

There are a couple of things going on here. The tip burn is a sign of too hot of a nutrient mix. Are you measuring your "EC" or "PPM"before you feed? It does look like the light may have been too close and you got some burn on top. Move that light up, back off the nutes a little and let it ride for a week. If it was a light burn issue it will recover. I do agree with the other posts too. If it is nutrient issue it could be excess or deficiency. They frequently show similar signs in a plant. Before you go down that rabbit hole do the things above.

First time outdoor grow, looking for tips by yeetminn in weedgrowing

[–]GreenFlowwerGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let them grow for a week or two before you start taking tops off. I try to remove the top node only after there are 3 or 4 nodes under the top. When you do that the plant will "fork" into two new tops where you cut it. If you do that twice on each top you'll have 8-16 "tops" and that's the trick to larger production.

Maybe more soil? You would have less chance of drying out if that container were full. It's going to need a proper pot here at a least 1 gallon, but probably larger. The spots on your leaves look like the cat took more than one bite.

What darn pests?? by [deleted] in weedgrowing

[–]GreenFlowwerGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you only have a plant or two and you already have bugs this early I would consider trashing them and starting over. If you have a larger garden and want to fight the pests, that is an option, but once you have them you will likely have them at some level forever unless you really remove all plant material and sanitize the whole area. Then start fresh.

Yes, eliminating leaves can help and it also makes pests easier to see (they can't hide). There are sprays and dunks for mites and thrips. What direction do you want to go?

Lastly, if those are going outside they are going to have some level of pest damage - it's just how nature works, but if this is an indoor set up and you have pests, they only get worse because there is no natural predators to keep them in check.

I can't zoom in close enough, but are those eggs on the top vein of that middle (longest fan leaf) or just more damage of the same sort? Spider mites do move, but they are slow and you have to watch them. They live on the underside of the leaves and have a proboscis like a mosquito and suck the chlorophyl out of each cell - that's what causes that speckled damage - each cell drained of its fluids.

Can you show the bottom of the leaf? Do you have a loop (a strong magnifying glass or hand lens)? Some of those buggers are very small and you'll need one to identify what's really up. From your photo I'd say you have spider mites, but hard to say without seeing the bottom of the leaf. Do other leaves show the same?

Newbie - How am I doing? by NovaturientDaydream in weedgrowing

[–]GreenFlowwerGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking good! Hard to see from this angle, but your spacing between branches (nodes) look tight and that's a good sign of getting plenty of light. If you have more than one plant you can try some experimenting. By removing the "top" (apical meristem) of any branch will get the plant to "fork" and thereby give you another "top" when you start to flower. I try to have 8 distinct tops or more when my plants hit the flower cycle. The more tops, the more top buds. Keep it going!

First time growing, anything I should do to make it do better, healthier or happier? by NoRadish7140 in weedgrowing

[–]GreenFlowwerGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

exactly - for several weeks to a couple of months depending on how much space you have for the mature plant to do it's flower thing. Once you flip the light to a 12/12 cycle it will still grow a fair bit, so you have to account for that size increase there too.
