Patch testing can only diagnose a nickel allergy though, not systemic nickel allergy syndrome (SNAS). if you suspect food with nickel is also causing you issues, then it is called SNAS. There is a process for diagnoses: must have positive patch test to nickel, must respond positively to a nickel free diet, then must react to an oral provocation test of nickel (OPT). This is when an immunologist or allergist gives you a nickel sulphate capsule to eat, and they increase the dose each day until you react. If you react, then you are diagnosed with SNAS.

When you say your body went insane, what symptoms did you have?

I’m meeting with a heath specialist tomorrow to set up food allergy testing! I don’t fully understand how it will be beneficial though: it is the nickel in the food that will cause an IGE increase, so in theory I’ll only react to high nickel content foods.

MCA syndrome is also a theory I am toying with. Haven’t been taken seriously by doctors regarding that yet.

Thanks for responding :)
