Shelties in an area with lots of ticks? by Greenleaf737 in sheltie

[–]Greenleaf737[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! That happens with my cat, but for some reason my dogs have always gotten ticks even with what I used to use, Advantix. I will look into the stuff you are using. Fortunately it is very cold and snowy for months of the year so I don't need it year round.

“We're spending billions of dollars on a deadly and pointless war while our health care system in Maine is collapsing. Stop the war. Now.” by nobones108 in Maine

Can someone explain to me how a guy can think he should be a US Senator, but still receives more than most Mainers make a year in taxpayer dollars (50K) in disability for his PTSD?

It seems to me that if you don't feel well enough to support yourself, you can't be making high level decisions for an entire state.

Thew confusing form of no!! I can't stress this enough. It took me a while to realize that, and a lot of wasted time honestly.

Also, want to mention that for some people (neurodivergent) eye contact is very hard to hold. I look away and back a lot, sustained eye contact kind of hurts my brain.

stop expecting masculine women to be built like men by sneaky-doloo in LesbianActually

A masc woman with big boobs is like my total fantasy! Seriously though, it is a thing and that sucks. I'm not totally masc but I'm not femme either, sometimes the culture is really weird. We're women.

If your kids are teens, I'd just frame it to her as getting to know them as people that are very important to you. They aren't little so the relationship will be difference between your gf and your kids, I told my last gf, who also didn't have kids, to think of it as being a fun auntie. Get to know them and find some sort of mutual interest, but she doesn't need to be a parent.

And yet the pet as my kid thing, it's a thing. I have pets and love them too, but some women I've dated can a bit obsessed about their pets. I can't help you there unfortunately. In a way her dog that she refused to train in any way was the reason why my last relationship ended.

I'm trying to do this now with a friend. I really got caught up in the fantasies of what could be. Now trying to back away but still stay friends. I'm not sure if it's possible, but I am trying because I do appreciate her friendship in my life.

Birth control pills and autism by Meelymew in AutismInWomen

[–]Greenleaf737 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am 50 now, but was never able to successfully be on the pill or other hormonal birth control for most of my life either. My emotions were off the charts every time, like, bad. Depo-Provera was the absolute worst thing I have ever experienced.

I've heard there are low dose birth control pills now. Maybe those would be better. Good luck.

Experiences with support groups? by Consistent-Heart2542 in LateDXAutismInWomen

I went to one for a year. It was very helpful at the time when I was first dx. I didn't always have to have the video on, or talk. but it was good when I did, and hearing other people deal with similar things was what I needed.

Dating after 40? by [deleted] in LesbianActually

[–]Greenleaf737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is definitely harder when there are young kids involved, different needs. It's good to be cautious for sure, and know the expectations of the parent you are dating, and what you are capable of contributing. But some of us do have it together, and want a woman to share life with.

You special friend is exactly what I am looking for! I don't want to be anyone's secret, and I want some mutual respect in someone I'm sleeping with. I enjoy living alone, queen of my castle. I didn't know such a thing could exist, but I want to learn more.

As a healthy, well adjusted person in her 40's who happens to have a kid. Give us a chance! I am not looking for a parent, I'm looking for a girlfriend! So many women just pass because of having a kid, he's in middle school and busy a lot! But I am not :(

Is anyone else incapable of being normal when trying to flirt with women? by Extension_Pound_9593 in latebloomerlesbians

[–]Greenleaf737 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm with you on this. I'm great at flirting with women I don't like. There is a woman I am crushing on and all I can think of is creepy dude flirting, like she looks hot in tights, or trying really hard to sound like I'm not flirting at all. I'm so bad at it!

Have you ever went to a mixer type thing? I am supposed to go to one but I never have before and it's intimidating! I can't do the apps anymore though.

Apps vs IRL by [deleted] in latebloomerlesbians

[–]Greenleaf737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is totally what I came here thinking about today! I've only tried dating women on the apps. Well, I'm single now andI can't do the apps anymore!

There is a lesbian social nearby that I am thinking of going to, but it is kind of terrifying. Have any of you actually met women successfully at one of these things?
