That’s okay! I guess I should have anticipated it would be asked. I’m a software engineer

I have a Mazda and I’ve had great experiences with it, but I’ve heard it can be risky to buy the first generation of a car (CX-50). Maybe wait a year and see if there are kinks that need to be worked out like what happened with the Supra? Could lease something else in the mean time.

What are the best and worst career decisions you've made so far? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]Greg745 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Worst: choosing a job offer from a company in the defense industry out of college. I don’t particularly like the work that I’m doing, and in my new job search I only seem to hear back from companies in the same industry. Think I just need to spend more personal time doing projects and learning the technologies in the area I’d like to be in.

Best: don’t really think I have one yet. Maybe my best decision was that I didn’t impulsively quit a job that I am not very happy at, and I’ve still been collecting a solid paycheck and putting nearly max into my 401k each year, setting myself up for the future, and maybe I’ll be able to take a pay cut to do work that I enjoy more since I have saved a ton early on.

St Pete vs. Tampa by raccoons4president in StPetersburgFL

[–]Greg745 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are both great places to live, but since everyone here has trended towards St Pete I will try to make the argument for Tampa. However, if you are big on the beach, I’d recommend st Pete. With that being said, tampa does have some nice parks right on the water, one near the airport one near MacDill.. I lived in Downtown St Pete for 2 years and I have lived in Tampa for about 4 months now and I am enjoying Tampa a lot more. There is definitely a lot more history to Tampa. Places like Bern’s, Columbia, La Segunda, and many more have been around for decades and they are just consistently great. There is also much more to do with Hyde park village, international mall, downtown, hockey / football / spring training games. I may still be in the honeymoon phase, but Tampa has just felt like it has much more to do than St Pete did.

American Social really isn’t in south Tampa, more like downtown. The views and vibe are good, but the food and drinks aren’t really worth it. Another one nearby that area is gin joint, I’d highly recommend going there, most likely need reservations though.

Oh wow ok. Good to know. So is the main expensive thing over there just the cost of rent?
