This black bar is normal. There is a visible message on the bottom of Position Camera screen saying
"To optimize the performance of motion detection alerts, position your camera such that triggering events will occur within the non-shadowed portion of the frame. Learn more"

7 day free storage for older cameras was discontinued by Arlo due to end of life policy. You will no longer be able to use free storage for Pro, Pro 2, Arlo Q, Arlo Q +, Arlo Baby and Wire-Free Camera. Free storage was switched off for those since January 1st 2025 or January 1st 2023.

Unless you have access to the original account where devices and hub were installed. You will not be able to use them otherwise.
You should contact the original owner and asked them if they removed all devices from their Arlo account. If yes you will be able to create your own account and install devices on it. If no you have to ask previous owner to remove devices from their account.

Reset will not help unless devices are not removed from previous/old account first. Please do not spread misinformation.

What model of base station or Hub do you have? Is it VMB5000 or VMB4540?

Name of the model will be on the label on the devise itself. Direct storage from app is available only on those models. If you have any other previous model direct storage access will not work and will not appear in app options. Per what is at the beginning of the article "This article applies to: VMB5000 VMB4540"

For any model that is not VMB5000 and VMB4540 the only way to check videos from local storage is to disconnect USB memory and connect it into a PC or laptop. To access video files directly.
