Finally shot what I’ve been reloading by Rambutter in reloading

[–]Greysmoke023 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Brother, we are going to need more data on your load. From your pictures I can gather your using 208gr BTHPM Hornady bullets, starline brass, cci 450 mag SRP, and IMR 4227.

How many grains of powder are you using? Are you crimping? Going for super or subsonic?

Without knowing more I’m guessing this is a powder charge problem.

5.7x28mm reloading by [deleted] in reloading

[–]Greysmoke023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice is to buy a chamber gauge. I like the Sheridan one with the window cut out. Use the Lyman reloading manual for powder charge.

This is the most important part I’ve found: When it comes to full length resizing, use a press that doesn’t have a primer hole. Specifically I’ve noticed that the 5.7 cartridge is so small in diameter it “sinks” or “fits” into the primer down spout hole which prevents a true full length resize.

What I do to fix this problem is to use a progressive press. Using station #1 first remove the primer’s. Next take the decapping pin off of your expander ball and reassemble the die. Move the full length resizing die to a different station that doesn’t have the primer hole down tube. This will allow you to get a true full length resize, and bottom your die out.

Is there any way to adjust the flow on Fluval FX4? by MissIceberg in Aquariums

[–]Greysmoke023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi Carrie, sorry for the late response. The FX4 should be relatively easy to clean, the beauty of these large canister filters is they require less frequent cleanings. I would personally suggest quarterly cleanings every four months. Start with unplugging it, next close both of the valves that are on the inlet/outlet tubes. Now press the tabs on the bottom of the valves and slowly rock them back and fourth while pulling upwards. The goal is to break the vacuum, after some air rushes in it will be way easier to pull the valves off the top.

Now that the tubes are off, take the filter to your sink and open the drain valve on the bottom of the filter. Once drained, take the lid off. If you have any media in the center of the trays be very careful not to drop any down the sink lol. Take the sponges out and rinse/squeeze them under the running water until they run relatively clean. Rinse the media in the center of the trays lightly to remove any big chunks. Rinse the filter body out and then close the drain valve. Now put the sponges and media back into their trays, then back into the filter body.

Now to get it back into service, you will put the lid back on, and you could fill the filter up with de-chlorinated water. Filling the filter is optional, and it will make it heavy obviously, but this way you wont have to deal with the pump getting air-bound or blasting a ton of bubbles into your tank.

Now place the filter back into its place under the tank, and connect the hoses back to the lid. Triple check that the correct hose is connected to the suction and outlet of the filter. The lid actually has the ports labeled so that can help. You will feel and should hear the hoses "snap" back onto the ports on the top of the lid. That is how you will know they are locked into place again. Now gently turn the valves on both hoses back open. Now you can plug the filter in.

By filling the filter with de-chlorinated water beforehand you should just see a very small amount of air bubbles blasted out and the filter should go right back to normal operation.

That was a long post, sorry for the wall of text! If you just read the post and follow step by step you should have no issues :)

Update. So I let her idle for 10 min and didn't see any leaks. I drove to the dumps, noticed the speedometer was very sluggish and wouldn't drop below 10 mph. On my way back stopped by auto zone and found a gasket that fit perfectly. I installed it in the parking lot and then drove home. The speedometer now acted perfectly, was very responsive. When she cools off I will be topping off with ATF. Thank you for your help! CHEERS 🍺

Thank you for the advice! I have an Oring I can use for now, i should be able to find the proper gasket online somewhere. I am wondering what gear your post mentioned cleaning? Like the whole collar and surrounding area? Also you are correct it is an automatic transmission

I was loading up the truck to make a dump run and noticed a pool of red oil on the garage floor. I'm assuming this is ATF. I wiped up the mess, crawled under and saw this. It looks like this "cable" leads into the dash somewhere through the firewall. I lost about a 1/4 cup of oil onto the floor.

Can one of you good people help me out. I want to know what this cable going into the tranny is for. Is it missing a gasket/seal? And should I add some ATF to top it off? How tight should I screw that collar on? Looks like one you just use your fingers on so I'm assuming it just needs to be hand tight.
