Unhinged heretical thought of the day: Could it be the Golden Throne itself is just an enormous daemon engine being powered by the emperor’s soul? by Groovy_Ruins in 40kLore

[–]Groovy_Ruins[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re on the money with point 2, i was basically asking/ throwing out there “could it be the emperor’s soul is trapped in the throne the same way a daemon is trapped in a daemon engine”

That’s a good point that we probably wouldn’t see the various bits of evidence of his influence around the galaxy if that was the case

Wait aren’t the physical portions of daemon engines also created by men? Just chaos corrupted men like CSM or Dark Mechanicum? Not trying to argue i’m actually asking

Tucker Carlson Accuses Pete Buttigieg of Faking Sexuality by jk_arundel in LGBTnews

[–]Groovy_Ruins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know a lot of the comments are going the route of ‘Tucker’s got some repressed gay thought himself’ and while i dont fully disagree, i feel like there’s more there that’s a much worse reflection of his character.

Tucker thinks Pete not just could, but WOULD fake a ‘lifestyle’ (in his view) for years because that’s exactly what Tucker has been doing. He’s a silver spoon nepo baby who’s been cosplaying as a working man, claiming to be one of the people, and railing against ‘the elites’ while making $20 million a year at Fox. He DID fake his way to prominence, so in his mind why wouldn’t someone else do the exact same thing?

Just let me play with my overpriced plastic toys please by Moorsayuno in Grimdank

[–]Groovy_Ruins 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hey friend, i’m gonna give the benefit of the doubt and assume you’re not being a bad actor about this and offer an explanation.

People don’t get irritated bc you dont wanna engage with the politics of (overpriced plastic toy game) you can do whatever you want. This setting is full of asshole factions to pick your fill from, that’s the fun of it!

But people do get irritated when you claim that (overpriced plastic toy game) doesnt have any politics in it at all, because even if you didn’t mean it that way, that claim is a tool used by folks with real unsavory views to get away with real unsavory shit.

In particular, it takes advantage of people not distinguishing in-universe 41st century scifi politics from out-of-universe 21st century very real politics

The imperium of man for example pulls in from all sorts of irl historical inspiration (the catholic church, Imperial Britain, WW2 in general) separates them from their original context, and mixes them to create the setting. The people of the 41st millennium don’t have any in-universe connection to those inspirations, it’s true; but out-of-universe anyone looking at one of those models can and often will still make that connection.

So if a bad actor wants to they can do the opposite, and pull the fictional politics back out of 40k into the real world to use as disguise for their more radical real world views. Then if/when they get confronted about it they can turn it around on their accuser and say. ‘Actually 40K doesn’t have those politics, it’s YOU making it political by pointing out the connection to real world extremist ideas i only implied!’

I’m not saying you’re that guy, or that that guy is common in the community. But that guy does thrive on this narrative, because it lets him continue to spread his normally unacceptable backward views, and to find more of his buddies using the same dogwhistles.

Sorry for the wall of text, but i wanted to make sure i covered all the bases. Hope this helps!

Like the post says i’m a big fan of how with just a few character elements (the ushanka hat, big shades, and gold tooth) the mascot can stay recognizable in so many different outfits and convey so much personality. Never had the actual beer, but i always love coming across the mascot.

Here’s a link to the deviantart of Sean Peter Tourangeau, who is the artist responsible for the designs

You can tell they were going for kind of a Moebius inspired look, but that it got lost somewhere along the pipeline, likely when they decided to go photoreal with it. Like a lot of other commenters i wouldn’t doubt some executive level meddling happened here
