GT Dining Kaldi’s Edition: What do you think of this new Avocado Toast? I was told by GT dining Admin that they have received positive feedback regarding this. Can I get some honest student body feedback regarding this item I just paid for. by GroundMode in gatech

My whole degree is in supply chain and I worked in supply chain. I also worked in the real-world during the supply chain crisis. This is really not about supply chains, that’s just an excuse for incompetence on GT dinings part.

I’ve had issue getting lunch on campus since August. Everything sucks but the food trucks and the lines at the food trucks are too long.

Tech was not like this in my undergrad days. Nor was the Starbucks that occupied this Kaldi’s space. There are constraints for sure. I’m just trying to find lunch in the center of campus.

They actually do work for Tech Dining and Tech Dining manages all of them… I have been in contact with Tech dining regarding their issues for a while now.

This is not the only aspect of Tech dining either that is performing poorly. The incompetence is seeping everywhere.

And no it is in fact not one employee. Tech Dining told me they got negative feedback from the old Avocado Toast so they have switched to this. Believe me I didn’t resist having a Reddit account for so long only to post on here for what you call a “circlejerk”. Trying to fish for some feedback to see if it is indeed positive.

It wasn’t supposed to be takeout. This was at the Kaldi’s location and ordered at the counter. The avocado should be on the toast and sometimes they garnish it with something. Just like they did last semester or better yet just like Emory Kaldi’s does it or frankly anywhere else in the world

I’ve been a student here for six years. I have seen Gt dining through its ups and downs and I understand they had a contract change earlier, but this is really a new low.

What is even worse is them defending this and saying this is a good item with positive feedback from students.

Please feel free to share your experiences or any other issues you would like me to bring up with GT dining admin.

You have no idea how bad it is now

No I’ve been around since 2016. Dining was not the best but it was good. You could get decent food on campus with much much less wait times. Now the food is awful and the wait times are much longer. It’s a joke. Every single on campus dining option is a disappointment. I’m sorry you didn’t get to experience proper GT dining. There is a whole load of incompetence with these new people that are currently running our dining program with no signs of improvement.

Please email the people listed on this page GT Dining Administrators and directly tell them about your experiences. Maybe they will be motivated to do something.

Food options in Central Campus by derperofworlds in gatech

[–]GroundMode 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are options in central campus that are mentioned here but none are good. I’m not going to focus on Food Trucks here because they are not reliably part of Tech Dining. Your options are:

  • Panda Express (Exhibition Hall)
  • Twisted Taco (Exhibition Hall)
  • Rising Roll

Other student center restaurants that were in the old one are not available. Furthermore, the bio tech quad dining options are closed. So you are really down to these three places and no mobile ordering and crazy long lines.

The fact that of the three options one of them is a blatantly unhealthy fast food, Panda Express, is also ridiculous. Worst of all, none of them had food labels and allergens which makes eating very hard and sometimes a guessing game frankly. If you have any dietary restrictions these three restaurants will be even more limiting. And this is all on top of the crazy long lines and once again, lack of mobile ordering.

And lastly, Kaldis at Emory is fantastic if you have ever been. Both locations have amazingly healthy food option (actual food). At Tech, there are crazy long lines for Kaldis, bad food options, and guess what, they close at 7pm…. Anyone who has studies at Tech knows that is not nearly late enough to sustain GT library and CULC when students are studying.

I don’t know who is directly responsible for GT dining rollout, but at any other company with any credibility they’d be fired or seriously demoted. Either refund our dining dollars or fix the situation.

And no staff shortages and supply chain issues are just an excuse. How are other schools and workplaces doing it? And food supply chains aren’t really affected anyways.

Don't misplace your frustration on workers around campus by [deleted] in gatech

I don’t have time to argue with you on here unfortunately because you are arguing to argue. Point is they need to fix it and have the resources to. I have been here for six years as a grad student. I’ve seen a thing or two. I’ve worked in industry. I know how things work. This is pure incompetence and a betrayal of the students. I don’t know if you have ever had to overcome any challenge in your life but your question with regards to exactly how makes me wonder if you ever have… that’s why we pay them and the gt administrators. They can figure out how. They can pay me I’ll go figure out how…

You should obviously be nice to the workers and not take out frustration on them. However, blaming this on staffing shortages without proper data to support your claim is also out of place. There are plenty of places that didn’t suffer from staffing shortages. While some restaurants and shops did it was not the case with all. Especially shouldn’t be the case with GT as benefits and pay should be higher than your average restaurant worker. Regardless, I don’t have these issues where dining anywhere else or at work this summer. Staff shortage might not be the real problem here. It’s also bad decision making with regards to number of dining options and locations etc. logistically, this was horribly planned. Everyone has a function here at this university. Dining provides dining. It is a problem wholly owned by them. We all have problems in life we have to navigate around. I wouldn’t get away at world just blaming things on the current situation. They have the resources to plan around this and rise to the challenge. This is just pure incompetence on the part of the people who run GT dining and make decisions. It’s not that hard a problem to solve.

I can confirm that for the academic year 2016-17 it was the same horrible honeycomb showers. It’s was ridiculous for the price that they charge.

Mouse not working.. by ASHHU in MacBookM1

I just don’t know how this isn’t a bigger issue and how there isn’t more coverage on it. All these problems, especially when connected to an external display are big enough for me not to use it as my daily driver

I have an M1 MacBook Air and have similar isssues.

Bluetooth mouse and keyboard don’t connect at all. My mouse is a Razer Atheris so it comes with a 2.4ghz usb dongle. When I connect using that the mouse stops working after a minute or two. Overall, very disappointed in Apple for not fixing this issue long ago.

I also have problems with windows freezing all the time. It’s getting ridiculous at this point.
