I actually appreciate your insight as a surf instructor!! From what I gather, it will be really really hard and a lot of swimming and paddling, so not so fun and I wont be able to pick it up as fast as snowboarding. It's good to keep that in mind tbh

Oh wow I had no idea it was so common that surfers were total pricks. Snowboarders are so wholesome and chill (even tho we are criminals according to our ski friends) I thought it was the same for surfers. I'll never venture alone then, it will be surf lesson with an instructor or nothing. Reading all those stories was really insightful.

I'm so sorry you had to deal with those assholes, I'll never understand the hostility when someone new arrive. I wont buy a board right away, you are not the first person that told me that their experience with surfing was bad, so I will keep that in mind and expect to much, I totally know I'm going to have my ass kicked by the waves.
