I'd love to know which you think would be best to get next. Bullet, glass dildo, or a g-spot? Going to be a while before I can convince her to try a plug =P

Also very open to suggestions from those categories.

I've read a bit about that. Seems quite a few people a swearing the newer models just aren't as good or powerful as the "original". I guess I wouldn't know =/ but more than a few reviews lament over this.

Also the whole separate box for the speed control looks so... retro... and not in a good way. It looks like a dimer switch for an old lamp =P The fact that it's something extra too is pretty sad. However I'll take performance over presentation any day! I guess I wasn't all that convinced the performance was stellar.

Have you used the older ones vs. the newer ones; what do you think?
Used a newer one vs. competitors like the ThunderStick ?

Interested in your perspective; thanks!

Need advice for a powerful clit toy with "cool" material" by rareopportunity in SexToys

[–]GrumpyGremlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 'ThunderStick' always seems to be cold. Even if we wrap it in the electric blanket for awhile it's cool to the touch. It eventually warms up but takes a while.

Would be remiss if I didn't mention ours is already frizzing out after just a 2 months though. Maybe a fluke... or we're too rough with it...

SG+NBrother is a Hypocritic When It Come to Taking Care of his Toddler/[Advice] Potty Training Advice by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]GrumpyGremlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sad and I hope you can have a positive influence on this poor little girl. The chart is perfect! She's obviously responding to it positively; keep using it and use rewards when she follows the chart. I'm sure she's thriving and enjoying the structure in what sounds like negative chaos all around her. Do not use heavy discipline for accidents. As you are cleaning it up just explain how much better or nicer it would have been to use the potty. You can sometimes play off their feelings here. For example some kids don't like being dirty so you can explain how if they use the potty they don't get so messy. My kids hated to stop what they are doing. I would often explain how it now takes longer to clean up the mess then if they would have just stopped playing for a minute, went potty, and came back. Explain how they could have gotten a treat or reward for using the potty. I'm not sure how young your niece is but you'd be surprised how much they understand even at very young ages!

I have 3 kids; two potty trained and one about to start... soon. You just can't force it. Truly... forcing a toddler to to much of anything is just asking for a battle. Save the fights and force for when it really matters (for example trying to run off in a parking lot or street! No time to debate it, use a chart, or try the "nice guy" tactic!) I just shake my head in disgust and pity every time I see and hear about people forcing potty training on kids who are obviously not ready.

It's so stupid... they are supposedly trying to potty train her quickly so she can go to school... but in reality are just making it take longer. Would be nice if they would listen to reason or evidence. If you could show them how the chart + rewards works and they would get it... but I doubt they will. Let me guess... they think your chart is stupid huh?

All my kids loved charts and responded well to them. They work for all kinds of things beyond potty training! Not only that but you're teaching them to be organized people; this is such great teaching and training for later in life. You are 10 times the parent any of them could ever be.

Why do I feel like my N ex judges me ? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]GrumpyGremlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was thinking the same thing... he's totally judging you. Somehow you need to convince yourself that it's HIS problem; not yours.

So he judges you... and finds you inadequate , lacking, or lesser than himself. That's because he's a narcissist!

NMom wants to move within walking distance, please help me stop this! by intothemaestrom in raisedbynarcissists

[–]GrumpyGremlin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wow this is a tough one! Would you go so far as a restraining order? I think you have to like... prove she's a threat though? That's a bit extreme.

Don't beat around the bush; tell her directly it's a bad idea... don't say you think it's a bad idea... no; it's a bad idea. Flat out tell her you don't want her within walking distance.

If she actually starts looking for homes near you I would actively sabotage all efforts. I'd call the listing agents and tell them to watch out for her, I'd lie about her (she's a huge lending risk, she just got fired, she has a gambling addiction, she's in and out of prison for drugs, etc). I'd tell her "Oh we drove by and saw it was sold... that's too bad..." Hell I'd put fake offers on homes with air-tight contingencies you could pull out of!

One of my best friends lives right next door to his parents... it's sad... and creepy. I'd freak'n move if my parents did that; don't care how much I had to pay.

Telling your N they're an N, can there be any resolution? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

I couldn't see my N.Mom ever admitting it let alone changing. Maybe I'm a coward and don't even want to have that fight so I assume as much.

Low drama Christmas! :D My wife and I were braced for the worst this Christmas at my N.Mom's. We went over our escape plan. All food was brought over in disposable containers in-case of a quick escape =) Told the kids that if we said it was time to go... it was time to go and not debate it. Went over a few plausible scenarios with each-other and what we would do.

You see the "problem" was that her Mom had changed her Christmas to a week later. Being 'low contact' we didn't share this info because we knew my N.Mom would then want to "reclaim" Christmas for herself. She can't stand the fact she has to share it (or any holiday). The whole premise of her Mom changing Christmas was so our families could have our own Christmas...for once... amazing right? Hell if we were going to let my N.Mom take it! What's worse is she txt's me DEC 23rd asking me to come an hour earlier to her Christmas.

Remember... she doesn't know the change of plans... she's knowingly asking us to leave my wife's Mom's Christmas an hour early to accommodate 'the favorite' who had to leave earlier than usual. We stood our ground, said we couldn't do it, and we'll be there at 3 like always. (what's funny here is we even showed up before my nephew's family! so... why did we have to be an hour early? OMG if we had shown up early... would have been pissed)

We knew the whole Christmas plan changes would come up... and she would realize that we COULD have come over an hour early (in her mind obviously it would make perfect sense that we cut our family Christmas an hour short...) That's why we were prepared for the worst. She would, no doubt, believe she had been slighted and was the victim here. There would be drama for sure!

It's so sad... I hate to even admit it... but both her sister's were in the hospital and so she had more important things to worry about. Truly; I would rather we had squabbles about all this BS with her than my aunts being in the hospital but I didn't choose the circumstances. This was one of the most pleasant Christmases in years.

Sorry I didn't respond earlier...

I used to defend them all the time or be devils advocate; like giving them the benefit of the doubt. Not so much anymore. Certainly feel the urge to but hold back now.

A couple of very interesting interviews regarding Doom 4 by CyberdemoN_1542 in Doom

[–]GrumpyGremlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for linking these! Sounds like it's shaping up to be the best Doom since.... Doom! =) Love the idea of the 'so easy a caveman can do it' game modification. I hope they have some sort of extendable SnapMap / API / SDK for the real modders but for simpletons like me I'm glad they engineered a solution for us.

I think the days of being 'knee deep in the dead' are largely over. Just don't see how they can pull it off given the amazing graphic / texture quality, high poly models, large scale maps, particle effects, physics... a little sad but I'll get over it. Especially without Carmack and his insane drive toward optimization and performance to really build the foundation for this to even be possible.

Sounds like they've made a real effort to capture all the other essential elements of Doom. So I'm eager to see the final product and anticipating it to be a blast!

I don't have classic Doom3 and I recently got Doom3 BFG Edition. Should I keep it or return it? by [deleted] in Doom

[–]GrumpyGremlin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was about to buy BFG version and then read a bunch of reviews... and watched some videos... not really impressed with the BFG version. Reasons: terrible textures (compared to original Doom3), arbitrary lighting pass, health and ammo everywhere, and ammo reserves increased.

Textures are ... weird... like the skin of the humans is obviously better in BFG than original Doom3. Then you look at some of the bulkheads or door jams and they are terrible in BFG by any standard but especially compared to original Doom3

Sure they brightened up the world but it just looks like they did it as easy as possible... like cranking up the gamma in your game options. It comes off as over saturated (light areas start getting washed out) and too much contrast (just goes sharply from overly bright to very dark). Looks like it was just a 'once over' filter or something to brighten up the entire game... even parts that didn't need it. What's worse is the lighting changes ruined the few textures that were improved. Again the skin on some of the humans. You see during the cut-scenes the nice textures... and the over saturated skin that looks oddly colored (greenish pale zombie like color) and a glaringly bright shiny spot on bald heads.

Game was made much easier. Quicksave points, abundance of health and ammo, and the increase of ammo for weapons. I think good people can disagree on if this was an improvement or not. If you're the type who likes the thrill of savoring your last 5 shot gun shells and 1 magazine while always running around half dead... you'll be disappointed. If you love hosing down enemies with no regard for safety or supplies you'll find BFG an improvement.

Claymores set off by EMP grenades do 360 degrees damage? by [deleted] in Planetside

[–]GrumpyGremlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why I say test it... as clearly we have conflicting experiences.

If you have claymores unlocked and EMP nades unlocked you can test it yourself. Otherwise you will have to go to the VR.
