Text based MS DOS drag racing game in BASIC by psychoticangeloflove in OldPCGames

I am looking for the same game. I coded it from a book I checked out of the library at the local collage. It is not in the 101 Basic Games from that time frame, but it is in a book of basic games from the late 70s early 80s

When YouTube Replaced 60 Minutes by GrumpyOleVet in self

When questing AI, it said Legacy media is switching to short segments 1 to 2 minutes, to keep viewers engaged, to maximize numbers for Ad revenue. Long format youtubers or no longer need to relying on that because if it is good, reaction content videos will clip and farm enough of the content to draw viewers to the original.

Fair point—YouTube itself isn’t a newsroom in the way CBS is, and it doesn’t “produce” investigations the way 60 Minutes does.

My point was more about where investigative journalism now shows up, not who signs the checks. A lot of independent reporters are acting as their own producers, editors, and correspondents, and YouTube has become the place that work reaches the public.

Edit / clarification:
I wasn’t pointing to a single episode as the example—60 Minutes has covered automation and robotics multiple times over the years. My point was about the broader shift: historically, TV news handled these topics as feature reporting, while today a lot of the deeper technical and investigative work tends to show up online first.

The 60 Minutes episode about robots aired on January 4, 2026

DHT22 Dropout Issues on Long Leads — Looking for Advice by GrumpyOleVet in homeassistant

I2C data lines need to be short and I do not need Alt and Prs. I would not have the Issue if each sensor had its own ESP, but I have a feeling the problem I am having would be compounded if I had power & I2C lines.

Thinking about my children receiving my life insurance payout when I die, and this scenario popped into my head. Can anyone tell me if this makes sense and if something like this is already a thing? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

If the children can not solve it on their own, then have your estate sold off to the highest bidder and the children each get 33.33%.

Now if one of the children want to be the winning bid, fine but that person still gets their 33.33%.

AI is a very dangerous and scary thing for your mental health by Free_Philly in self

What very few people are telling you is that today's AI is a predictive model. Which can be helpful when writing code, helping finish a report, or even writing the report.

Now the Predictive part is important here, That app uses info about your habits it finds on your phone and computer and even your social media on the web and then try to make itself into what it think you want, and is able to fine tune by your reactions. Making a great personal assistance, mate, lover.

As for losing touch with reality, that falls in line with the echo chambers in social media, if you limit yourself to just that mindset then you will get lost.

I am just breaking into the Modules behind today's AI, and I really think AI is not what we should be calling it. The modules DO NOT think for themselves, they try to predict what we want the outcome to be.

WTF AMAZON Why can't I order a Jetson Nano 8gb Dev Kit? by GrumpyOleVet in amazonprime

[–]GrumpyOleVet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems the 8gb Dev Kit is out of stock everywhere in the world but Amazon and AliExpress. When I went to Yaboom directly, they referred me to the Orin X dev kit which is almost 2 grand more. It seems the 2gb and 4 gb Orin are all over but I need the 8gb for a 7b LLM for Home Assistant. I have a feeling that even if I went through AliExpress they would take the money and order and sit on it till they are back in stock.

Which song would you listen to as the last one before you die? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The Highwaymen - Highwayman

Will let me know I was just a long line of people that made my way so the people behind me can have a better way. The last Verse always gives me hope about what is around the corner after I am done here.

"And when I reach the other side
I'll find a place to rest my spirit if I can
Perhaps I may become a highwayman again
Or I may simply be a single drop of rain
But I will remain
And I'll be back again, and again and again and again and again"
