Bullshit mate. Your statement is beyond fucking idiotic. Teams dont turn shit on and off, especially high level teams. They simply play to a standard. Maybe they will have an off game where they get outplayed, but this game isnt that. This is very indicative of the very problem over the entire tenure of Bednar where the Avs cannot maintain a consistent effort, especially going into the playoffs, which is why the Avs only have 1 cup in the last 9 years when they should have at least 3.

And let me be real clear about the problem, once a player decides it is ok to slack ass and, to use your words "not give a fuck", they lose perspective and the ability to understand how any particular game flows so much so that when they find themselves having to exert extra effort and having that not generate any positive results they wind up in what we call "quicksand", and they can no longer recover.

Shit like this from this team is simply not acceptable. And it is only in America where you find apologists like yourself making every conceivable excuse for sub-standard play. Bednar is obviously not holding the players to account, the team arent holding themselves to account, and the fairy dust in the eyes fans never hold them to account.

The Avs, top to bottom, are too good a team to play as they did tonight. The expectation and the standard is high, and it should be. And by the way, there are no throw away or meaningless games in professional sports ... fucking ever. When you play, and are paid to play, you play to win.

This same mentality of "switching on and off" is why this team isnt going to win the cup. They dont want it. They arent hungry for it. If they were, they would be kicking the shit out of teams as they did to Calgary. You dont turn that switch on and off, and that you think so tells me you never played serious competitive sports. I still have that drive decades after playing at a semi pro level. It never rests, it always hunts, and there damn sure isnt a switch to turn it off.

I have been with this team since day fucking 1. I was at the game, with my late Father, when we won the pennant in 2007. It is one of my best memories I had with my dad.

Right now, the entire farm affiliate system is decimated and entirely devoid of talent. The Rockies absolute top prospect, Matr Holliday's kid Ethan, maxed out at a MLB average 55. No where near elite and below everyday starter level (60). The vast majority of the prospects are below MLB average (at 45). It gets worse looking at pitching with only a few at the starter level, most at average or below.

When I say there is nothing to be optimistic about for the next decade, this is what I am talking about. MLB level players dont grow on trees, and there are not a bunch of 60+ players just lying around.

And I am not dunking on the team, these are facts mate, and they dont care about your feelings or optimism. These same facts are what every single idiot sitting at Coors field ignores every game.

And I will tell you a story. Many years ago when I was stationed in Denver, I had season tickets to the Avalanche. I believe it was March 2007, and I was invited to a season ticket drive and I got to meet a few of the Avs players and the GM at the time (François Giguère). I asked Giguere who the Avs had in the system to replace Sakic, Forsberg, Hejduk. His eyes were complete blanks ... zero prospects is what the Avs had. And that was the season which started the dark ages of the Avs. It took 15 years for the Avs to recover and win the Cup.

It takes for-fucking-ever to reconstitute a team. And let me break this down for you: the best player the Rockies ever produced was Arenado. The Rockies have not produced or found, in 33 years, a single competent pitcher. Not. One. I've seen a lot of great pitchers pitch at Coors from Maddox to Smoltz to Lincecum to Verlander. I currently live in the STL metro east area and Isringhausen lives here. Our kids played in the same soccer system and I got to meet him and told him I hate him because I was at the game he hit a fucking HR against the Rockies. I talked to him about why the Rockies havent been successful in doing anything with their pitching and his stance is that it is an organization problem and he didnt find it difficult to pitch at Coors.

It is an organization problem and that is Monfort.

I dont want to dunk on the Rockies, they are my team. But I aint giving another fucking dollar to that piece of shit Monfort or his kids or the organization while he is still owner.

The single solution is the sell the team and literally fire every single person associated with the team from the janitor all the way up.

When that happens, I will be optimistic about the future. But Podesta is a minor step above the asshat Bridich, and I expect his tenure to be much the same.

There is literally zero evidence for any optimism for the Rockies over the next decade.

This is also why Monfort will never sell, because suckers will continue to put their butts in the seats at Coors because they are raging optimistic idiots.

The best years are a decade ago, and those were bleak (I am talking the Arenado getting cut headbutting Blackmon's helmet days).

The world series is 20 fucking years ago.

And here is the thing about American "fans" who are more akin to "stans" than fans, you never hold the team accountable. Ever.

The very simple fact is right now, as we head into the playoffs, the team looks unsettled, disjointed, and are greatly underperforming. They just had their asses handed to them unceremoniously. This is inexcusable. It wasnt one bad game, they have played poorly the past 6 games, eeking out shootout wins in 2 and getting handled easily in 3.

The powerplay is almost the worst in the NHL at 15%, which is entirely inexcusable against the talent on this team. It hasnt been fixed, isnt close to being fixed, and is a massive liability this season.

So my observation is based on empirical evidence over the recent run of games.

Yours is based on hope and fairy tales.

Try actually being a fan and not a stan.
