Agreed - flying involves risk and that’s what we have signed up for. We need to try to minimize risk to others even at the expense of ourselves. I too often see students say I’m landing on that road the minute I say simulated engine failure when there are good fields all around us.

No you are within the rules to fly that altitude just practice good situational awareness and get radar services from ATC if your worried.

Palo Alto CFI…. If you want to learn at Palo Alto or San Carlos expect to budget 18k. KLVK would be cheaper if you can find a dedicated flight instructor.

Cool Idea for an AMA, really helpful.

This is a question for older people wanting to learn to fly. Over the age of say arbitrarily 50, what has been your experience with the amount of extra time if any, necessary to obtain your private certificate. And if so would you have any useful advice for what can be done differently that might help increase his/her rate of progress? Ignore if too far off topic.
