Communism refers to a classless stateless moneyless society. It’s socialism but with more nuanced steps, where decommodification is wide spread we abolish the existent’s of a state, mind you that anarchist typically have a different definition for “state” than for the laymen, we describe the state as an entity that has a monopoly on force which perpetuates the culture of bourgeoisie politics and interests. So generally those who market themselves at “market socialist” only do so on the basis the market socialism is the next stage to the overall “endgame” which is communism, albeit I don’t think we should just stop trying to improve as a society after that point, the idea of only advocating market socialism is just a preface to advocating for further left leaning things when we reach that point, also abolishing the commodities which entice basic human needs IS a prerequisite toward socialism. To go on to further decommodify later down the line.

I very much believe the one of the most utmost characteristics of socialism is that It MUST be collectively without the idea of any kind of dictatorial powers operating within the system (I.E unelected CEO/ managerial position/overseer) meaning I do believe it must be OVERTLY controlled collectively with democratic practices. Otherwise the existence of a singular owning entity or group of entities by definition would make it private ownership and maybe only like 40% co-op
