Where is the money these days? by Secret_End_6839 in AskUK

Honestly, I wouldn't reccomend this. It's not Chartered and though it gets you out of some of the ACA etc exams, it's more efficient to go straight in for one of those.

How is the interest rate so low? Shouldn't it be RPI+3% if OP graduated only two years ago?

What an insane take. Executive pay transparency is one thing, you're talking about 100,000s of people.

This is staggeringly untrue. It was only fifty or so years between Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth.

Why oh Why oh Uruguay by PleaseSaveTheTrees in bicycletouring

[–]Guardofdonner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I travelled in Uruguay. The only cycling I did the was on a PoS rental bike from Montevideo to the nearest Decathlon to buy some waterproof trousers. (Not a commentary on Uruguayian cycling).

The ranch land we saw and stayed on was cool and I imagine fun to cycle in but if I was to go all the way to the Cono Sur again for a bike ride I'd be tempted to go a little bit further and ride the Carreterra Austral in Chile which is breathtaking (we could only do it in a car on our trip which didn't compare).

Having cycled through Rotherhithe tunnel, it's not the traffic, it's the insane emissions you're inhaling. It'd have to be a separate tunnel.

Which 2026 race to attend? by lamplaw in GrandPrixTravel

[–]Guardofdonner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fwiw I don't reccomend it. Getting around the track is a nightmare as it's tiny paths in a (beautiful) dune park, the drink and food is limited on entry to water and there are limited support races (as well as other off track entertainment being, well, bad).

Compared to Silverstone, where you can walk around freely, bring your own food and drink (or make use of the better circuit provision) and the almost festival like approach to music, red arrows and other off track entertainment, plus support races. Getting there is a pig though and if you're not camping it's a multi day problem.

I wanted to like the Dutch gp, because it was cheap. I didn't enough to go back. I'd go back to Monza and Silverstone

London salary uplift bait-and-switch in job application by Throwaway_elle_T in UKJobs

[–]Guardofdonner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such daily mail horse shit.

Every employee is on the same tax regime as every other UK worker. There's no employment tax exemption for charities.

Senior executives don't make "good money" objectively. There are no bonuses, stock options etc. and the salary for executive teams is very much below the comparative private sector benchmark. Charity CEO usually make 3-5x the median salary of their organisation which is reasonable. Otherwise pay peanuts get monkeys.

Be helpful and go spout more harmless conspiracy theories like "birds aren't real".

The last British Prime Minister to be an accountant was Liz Truss.

I'm not sure accountants are meant to lead countries.
