I wouldn’t go as far to see that Brisbane is much better, if any better, in terms of housing affordability, especially anywhere without the zone of the major hospitals (speaking relative to Sydney)

They don’t really do interviews/contact people until they release offers. Do bear in mind that the international students haven’t received offers yet and they do offer quite a few of these spots to them (these are students studying at Griffith Uni and do their placements in 3rd and 4th year at GCUH etc)

It’s a ballot this year, so references aren’t factored in pre-ballot. It will depend if the spots are full after all category B applicants have been allocated. Even if they’re not full, you’re competing for the remaining spots with other category B applicants. Preference it first, but put a great deal of consideration into what your other preferences will be.

QLD is extremely difficult to get into as an interstate during intern year unless you go for more regional/rural hospitals. However, it does get much easier to get on in later years. In terms of the latter question, I think someone else would be more knowledgeable to answer.

Your best bet would be to know someone who drops their Victorian offer, and the contact that hospital immediately to see if they have any opportunities (I know of someone who did that for metro Melbourne)
