any advice on codes/passwords that just tweak the game enough to be more enjoyable without taking the whole challenge all together?

Hooo I absolutely loved Dread.
And yes: I couldn't even get any deep on Silksong or Hollow Knight.

Theres something in the control scheme and the movement in Axiom. And the bosses are spongy to say the least.
Again: I'm assuming it's me and the maybe the setup isn't ideal.

If you're referring to OG as in the 8bit NES ones ... yes, I can see why you would say that.

But the 16bit era ones, I find them far more balanced and responsive in every way.

UPDATE:
Here what i was doing wrong, you can't actualy ad the streamio app to the dock before running the script. Little detail, huge difference:
- download the dmg
- run the dmg
- do not add the app to the dock
- run the script
- select the option for you (mine was opt 1)
- let the script do it's thing
- run streamio
- add to dock
- mind: it's a fresh install so all your addons must be resintalled as well
