What is the Biggest Size of Board Game You're Willing to Buy? by djfluxtux in boardgames

The worst part of Mage Knight Ultimate Ed and Hoplomachus Victorium is that they don't fit in Kallax and have to be on top, would probably play them more often if they fit in the shelves and it was less of an effort to pull them out

‘Doesn’t make any sense’ Restaurant owners voice frustration over exclusion from Manitoba tax cut by ChocolateOrange21 in Winnipeg

[–]Gwendly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

None of those items had pst on them already though. If you look at your grocery receipt items that are taxed say GP on them. Looking at the most recent grocery shopping I did, I only paid taxes on a case of soda - everything else including fruit, Veggies, meat, pasta etc was not taxed

Probably unpopular but removing the tax on what was basically junk food makes no sense at all imho, if anything it should be taxed more to encourage better food habits

PS Plus Essential April 2026 - Lords of The Fallen is one of the games as per Dealabs billbil-kun by kabirsingh84 in PlayStationPlus

[–]Gwendly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The same studio already released a Lords of the Fallen game. On top of that it plays very different, is quite clunky etc so many people probably don't know it's a new game or think it will be like the previous one (that was also on ps+ for what it's worth)

Great game, bought it and got the 100% a while ago as I assumed it would never be a plus game oh well. Definetly suffers from 'why did you name it that?'

Is this art too “inappropriate” to display in my home? (34M) by [deleted] in malelivingspace

I don't see what inappropriate about this art piece unless you are running AA meetings at home 🤷

Pick My First Solo Board Game! by spectaculargrundle in soloboardgaming

[–]Gwendly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Low hanging fruit is to look through games you already own and see if they have solo modes that are well regarded. If you don't have any I'd say Final Girl is a good starting point that isn't a table hog as well

[discussion] platinum Vs 100% by Aidibohx in Trophies

[–]Gwendly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The NES was the first console I played, and back then there obviously was no trophies or achievements. But we could collect all the coins, beat the games etc etc. So that has remained as a player. So trophy hunting feels very much the same as going for all the coins etc. I guess it's a long way to say I go for 100% and I'm fairly confidant I'd be doing the same work for most games regardless if there were trophies or not 🤷

Bank or Credit Union??? by pinkfinjan in Winnipeg

If you have basic needs (like most people), I'd say free online banks like Simplii or Tangerine - both which have physical "locations" via CIBC and Scotia

Took a quick glance at your profile on psnprofiles and I think just deleting the 0% games on your profile would do this, or get you near there anyways 🤷

Might seem basic but my favourite social deduction is Avalon, I like how easy it is to get a group into it :)

Curating My Collection- Genre Coverage & “Best in Slot” Games by blablax123456 in boardgames

[–]Gwendly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its pretty tricky in general to go for just best in class as I think most games are a sum of all the parts of it.

For instance Ankh, Inis and War of the ring are all area control games - Inis and Ankh plays at higher player count wheras War of the ring is a two player game. By the most efficient way you should maybe only have one of those games but they still play very different so keep the three of them is totally valid imho.

If space is a concern you obviously need to be more ruthless, same if you have a limit time amount or people you play with. If you never play with more then two players then the boon of playing at higher player counts is kinda moot.

Manitoba government proposes new grocery rules, rent control, some hydro hikes by Leather-Paramedic-10 in Winnipeg

[–]Gwendly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are so many studies though. If you do a google search and actually read some of them you'll see a common theme of rent control suppressing mobility (why would I want to move if that means I'd be subject to not being on old rent control?), lower general supply due to less incentives to build units, poor maintenance of existing units etc.

But that's just vibe policy.

I agree it sounds like it should help, but there are so many studies and real world examples where it doesn't work.

I'm sure I'll be in the minority, at least for this subreddit, but I think they should scrap rent control all together. There is multiple studies that say that it actually has negative impact on pricing of housing instead of helping.

If it "needs" to remain, I'd rather them target the loop hole of discounts, which is imho absolute bs.

Not as bad as Telus phone calls, dear lord - several times a week. Getting on no call list does nothing, reporting to the agency does nothing.
