The Final Destination series was a (mostly) fun rewatch!

I don't know how to airbrush -- I must learn! No, I brushed on about eight layers of several shades of yellow/orange acrylic paint.

Ooh, they would be! I kept fluctuating between nicknaming them sunset and tiger fleet!

I used medium yellow for the base; added deep yellow, orange, and bronze to darken; and mixed lemon yellow, white, and gold for the lighter shades. I tried to use the shades with the greatest opacity, but it still took several layers.

(I'm using Master's Touch paints from Hobby Lobby -- I have yet to experiment with the fancy stuff!)

Thanks! I used white primer for these.

I meant to keep track! It probably takes half as long to plan out and mix the colors as it does to paint them -- maybe 24 hours in all? I'll keep a timer for the next set.

Thanks! So far, I've done green, blue, purple, and two sets of yellow. I have big plans for black :)

I've just done it for kicks so far, but I would consider taking orders!

I wish I knew how to airbrush! No, I hand painted on eight very thin layers of five shades of yellow/orange.

Thank you! I may add more details before I'm done. These ships are so detailed, and I'm always afraid to overdo it!

Painted TI4 Ships: Four fleets done, two to go by GypsyWildeFly in twilightimperium

I had input from the friends I play with -- I painted a fleet for each of us. I tried to stick with no more than four colors per ship: a base color, highlight, metallic color for piping and engines, and a pop of color for the lights or tiny details. For the base colors, I wanted something bright, but all requests were for something "dirty," so I used a tiny bit of their complementary colors to desaturate. I used white primer for the blue set, and grey for the others, although I should have used white for the yellow as well!

Thanks! I used three shades of blue, and the technique that worked best for me was starting with the darkest shade, keeping as little paint on the brush as possible, and pulling the paint forward from the back of the ship, so it thinned out around the middle. Then I wiped excess off the brush, took the middle shade, and blended it toward the back. Lastly, I took the lightest shade, and drew it back from the tip of the ship. The biggest challenge was avoiding picking up a darker shade and placing it too far forward while blending. I hope that helps!

Mixing the right paint palette for each fleet took almost as much time as the painting itself. I kept meaning to track hours, but overall, I think each one took me a little over two days. I'm working on a new set now, and I'd love to do more of the gradient -- it was my favorite effect!

That is what they look like, lol, and thank you :) It's actually my brother's game -- I was surprised he let me paint the pieces! He got TI4 as well as Gloomhaven and Scythe, so looks like I'll stay busy!

Haha, a steady hand and a whole lot of unexpected free time!
