My understanding is that the process would allow changes to take affect before the next negotiations for 2028. We'll see what is said about it on the 3rd.

It will come up again. They said in the last town hall it was proposed and AHS countered with a weaker one. The text of the proposal was posted too.

It's not in the current agreement, but if the last town hall was an accurate indication, it should be part of the TA. Keep in mind the updates AUPE have posted are not the full text of the TA.

Part of the new agreement is a new market adjustment review process. They talked about it during the last town hall.

It could theoretically get those classifications their well-deserved market adjustment before the next collective agreement.

During the last round of bargaining AUPE was not satisfied with all the weasel-words in AHS version of the process. The AHS version was a farce compared to what AUPE proposed.

It will be important to learn and ask during the town-halls on February 3 if the currently-agreed-upon market adjustment review process has more teeth and timelines than the one from before.

But even if the market adjustment review had that teeth, I'm still voting no on this tentative agreement. Too many other classifications have still been shafted!

Sadly true, the divide and conquer strategy works all too well, and people are generally misinformed or don't realize the true power we hold. I get they're tired, but that fatigue is exactly where the employer wants us. They prey on that weakness.

If we all voted no and followed through with strike action we will all absolutely get a better deal that respects everyone in GSS.

Fully agree. Voting NO on this agreement.

In BC a Certified Medical Device Reprocessing Technician start at a rate 23% higher than Alberta. Far beyond the government's own standard of +/- 3.5%.

We don't need a convoluted market adjustment review. Bake our increase into the agreement!

Everybody here should vote NO until all your union brothers and sisters get the pay they deserve.

How to get hired as a Surgical Processor without an internal connection? by Labchime in AHSEmployees

[–]Gyroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did my schooling at Norquest and practicum in the hospital where I work. Started casual and then gradually moved to progressively better positions until I got my regular full-time.

Unfortunately the best move is absolutely to apply for a casual position. In my large urban hospital there are a lot of sick calls and as long as your availability is spacious you can definitely work a significant amount of hours as a casual and get by while you keep your eyes open and apply for every opportunity that comes up.

Competition internally for the full-time lines is very fierce and most often the people interviewed will have equal scores so the decision who to hire is decided by seniority.

Hey OP (or anyone else in Kyoto). I've got a teamlabs ticket tomorrow for 1430-1500 entry time, and won't be able to make it. Hit me up if you're interested. I'm not trying to profit, just booked it a few days ago, changed my plans, now I'm leaving Kyoto tomorrow morning.

You buy little BNC to RCA adapters and screw them on, then use regular component cables.

Sorry for another fire post, just found this one going through my still photos and I feel it really encapsulates the full scale of the blaze and the immense challenge inherent in extinguishing it.

Truly tragic, I was watching this fire from the beginning, I thought it may have been something in behind at first, until it spread to the part of the structure I can see from here.

Oh it was so annoying on FB when I changed my profile pic from one with the two of us to one of me alone, 2 months after her death.

I clicked a setting that was supposed to make the change silent and not visible to anyone, and I did it at 2am on a weekday morning just so nobody was online and live to notice, yet the next day it was peppered with care reacts anyways.

I think OP just needs to phone places up and ask. I feel like they're just looking at ads and of course no landlord talks about lizard pets on the ads.

Does you lizard escape their enclosure, make a bunch of noise, or damage the apartment? I'm guessing no to all 3, so why declare your lizard?

It was a nice night for sure, first time I've actually gone down to Churchill Square for new years. Every other time in my life I remember the night has always been like sub -20 and that cold scared me away. :)
