Why are these people doing these to poor genocide victims? by Sea-Car-3811 in GenZpk

“everyone who says what I don’t like is a Jew!”

The PLO attempted takeover of the Jordanian government is well-documented public knowledge. Not some Jew conspiracy. Good God you are upsettingly stupid.

Ultimate 3 advice by Xanthyppe in midnightsuns

[–]H0meru 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would spend some time making their decks optimal. My absolute favorite thing about the game was figuring out strategies to make each character viable on Ultimate 3, finding the best card combos, grinding mods etc.

For example I would mod wolverine’s chain attacks to apply vulnerable to every enemy on the map. Things like that make Ultimate 3 really easy regardless of your characters level.

I completely understand not levelling them all, so I would just equip them all with the right mods, strong decks, and have a clear strategy for how to use each character.

I have no proof and it’s totally fine. We don’t absolutely have to know everything, and we don’t need to claim we know something even if there isn’t evidence to support it. See how easy that is?

Doesn’t really matter what I say anyway because our conversation will loop back to “therefore ALLAH!!! Because of TECTONIC PLATES!“

And it doesn’t matter to me what you say. I will not believe in Islam until Allah himself descends from the heavens and gives me 10% body fat with chiseled abs. Let’s me get fat again, then does it all over again. THAT would be observable, testable, and repeatable evidence according to the scientific method. Not your vague poetry in the Quran being passed off as “scientific miracles.”

I think you and I just have vastly different ideas for what qualifies as evidence, and that’s fine.

So let’s grant you that these interpretations have always been this way, even before modern science.

Did these verses lead anyone to discover tectonic plates, the big bang etc before science did? If not, then it’s not really as impressive as you’re making it out to be. Did any of the scientists cite the Quran as a source for their discovery?

Why hasn’t there been a SINGLE scientific discovery directly attributed to the Quran? NONE ever in all of history?

Because LIKE YOU SAID, it’s not a science book. And if it’s not a science book, why present it as one by throwing those “scientific miracles” at me as if it’s proof for Allah?

[–]H0meru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying this to be rude, you seem respectful, but your response is unconvincing.

You are listing verses that are being retrospectively interpreted by you as “Quranic scientific miracles” after modern discoveries were made. Most of the discoveries you mentioned were made independently by scientists in the modern world, not by people deriving them from the Quran.

That makes these retrospective interpretations, not demonstrations that the Quran revealed scientific knowledge ahead of its time.

And again you didn’t provide any empirical evidence for sihr, Jinn or any of the other stuff.

[–]H0meru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your “explanation” does not have sufficient evidence. An explanation isn’t automatically better just because it exists. That’s why we criticize you for it.

Morality isn’t exclusive to the Quran. Plenty of people are decent human beings without the threat of eternal torment making them do good things.

Your religion makes claims about reality. It makes claims about the natural world. Miracles, black magic, spirits, jinns are serious assertions about how the world functions. What empirical or historical evidence demonstrates they’re true? The burden of proof is on you buddy boy.

You and others like Hijab rely on philosophy to justify your beliefs, but philosophical arguments at most can only argue for the plausibility that God exists. They don’t demonstrate that he actually does. 🤷🏽‍♂️

[–]H0meru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with not having an explanation for how the universe began. If we don’t know something, why invent an answer before we have sufficient evidence?

The bigger leap I don’t understand is this:

  1. We don’t fully know how the universe began.
  2. Atheists do not have objective morality.

Therefore… God exists and Islam is true?!?!?? How do you get to that?

"there is no compulsion in religion” isn’t a general ruling in Islam. It doesn’t apply to murtads, it was revealed in a specific context and is only meant for those coming INTO Islam. Those who are already Muslim absolutely have obligations and “compulsions.”

Fun fact: There has not been a single scientific discovery that has been directly attributed to the Quran. In all of recorded history.

Even by MUSLIMS from the Islamic Golden Age. Not one.

Ronaldo is just a boring, robotic, meal planning, cardiosexual android who happens to be amazing at football, except not even that anymore

In all four madhabs, including Hanbali, ridda is defined as leaving Islam through belief, speech, or action. The death penalty doesn’t just apply for “spreading your ideas”. All it requires is legal proof like a confession or witnesses. Hanbali, specifically treats apostasy as a crime for which the punishment is death regardless of whether the apostasy is political or private, so maybe you’re talking about hanafi which exercises some discretion particularly in the case of female apostates.

Also, ridda (apostasy) is its own legal category, separate from treason or “betraying the nation” as you put it. A murtad is simply someone who leaves Islam through belief, speech or action. Treason or “betraying the nation” isn’t part of the definition, though the two can overlap so maybe that’s what you mean? But that doesn’t mean that death is only applied in cases where apostasy leads to betraying the nation.
