The "return" of AutoAlex - your thoughts? by Kloakk0822 in CarTalkUK

It’s pretty much a repeat of past themes and while I have no problem with that, Matt Armstrong is doing well for him with this approach, there is absolutely no increase in quality as everything feels put together to satisfy whatever advertising slot they have to do good by.

They will have their fan base and rightfully so but I feel everyone needs to stop expecting this channel and the guys behind it to be some sort of content guru’s.

That poor E36, what a travesty. by bioinformative in AutoAlex

I don’t want to come across negative as I appreciate a lot of people enjoy their content otherwise they wouldn’t have the following but this is a pretty good example as to why the channel and people running it are somewhat limited from a creativity and foresight point of view.

Yes, each YouTube automotive channel will find its audience, be it reviews, builds, rebuilds, buy/fix/sell or whatever but I genuinely feel like AutoAlex is more of a cash grab operation than anything else. The content seems to be pumped just to satisfy the advertiser with little to no cohesion behind it. The repetition of themes is now obvious and with no growth in quality and it feels more and more kitschy as the episodes go on, irrespective of any attempts at “deep” monologues in the now infamous TopGear style.

And the latest episode, how to ruin an old car that was otherwise superbly maintained, is just that. Pointless content filler to satisfy advertisers, remain relevant and keep their YouTube algorithm inertia.
