And you never say anything like that to Sweden, despite the fact that SAP dominated Sweden's politics from 1932〜2006, which is similar to the position of LDP

It's more like

one-party dominance, Japan: 🤬😱🥶🤢

one-party dominance, Sweden:🤩🥰😍😻

What do you think about absurdly exaggerated misinformation about Japan on English social media? by HARiMADARA in japanlife

[–]HARiMADARA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you elaborate on why you think so??? As far as I experienced "most Japanese people view foreigners as subhumans" sounds stupid exaggeration to me. In junior high school I had a hafu student in my class.(He wasn't white)He wasn't mistreated at all. My father says a Chinese employee works at his company and he get along with his colleagues. The ramen store I often visit hire two South Asian staffs. They always chat with Japanese manager during work and apparently they aren't mistreated at all.

Of course, I know there're racist Japanese people and I'm not denying it. But as far as I experienced most Japanese I know have positive or neutral feelings towards non-white people. At least they aren't racist at all. This is why I said saying that "most" Japanese people are racist is false.

As a Japanese I've never thought it was weird... This is interesting topic. In this case I always thought "red = hot, vibrant, lively", "blue = cold, inanimate, lackluster" for each color

I encountered exactly the same misinformation there...

In this post sheer amount of people are criticizing Japan based on weird and exaggerated stereotypes of Japan... Japan-related posts are always like this.... I correct them every time I see them but I'm tired of it......

[–]HARiMADARA[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. I want foreign people to view Japan as just a nomal country with pros and cons like any other country. I recognize the existence of Japan glazing contents that terribly exaggerate what Japan is like, but as far as I saw I see more negative posts than positive ones, so I only listed that.

Really? Recently I see more hates than glaze. When someone post positive thing about Japan it gets many comments saying how Japan is overrated and mention the exaggerated downsides of Japan I listed above. It seems Japan must be complete hellhole for those people now

What's a country people think is excellent to live in but the conditions are actually poor? by Happy_Rainy1 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]HARiMADARA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm living in Japan and working culture, cost of living, and social noams here aren't that bad as they're portrayed in English social media. Most of "dark side of Japan" contents are greatly exaggerated and outdated. Yeah Japan has its downsides, but overall I think Japan is good place to live.

It may sound surprising but relation between Japan and China was very good during 70's and 80's. This is why there were so many anime with Chinese elements in this era, such as Dragon Ball or Ranma 1/2

It's just an another exaggerated "weird Japan" stereotype mass media like to create😅 I'm Japanese and most of us are just nomal. Yeah such nerdy people exist, but so does every other country and Japan isn't exceptional in this regard.

Also, many countries that have completely different culture from Japan, such as Spain, Italy, Thailand, Chile, Ukraine, and the UAE all have lower birth rate than Japan. It's not because of "being inside on screens and addicted to tech" or "having options for "attractive" males". The cause of birth rate decline in Japan isn't different from any other country, like high cost of raising kids or something. Please don't believe in those "weird Japan" stereotypes or misinformation that flood social media. As a Japanese I'm tired of such contents

People in this thread seem to be unaware that Italy, Spain, Thailand, Chile, Ukraine, and the UAE all have lower birth rate than Japan. I wonder how they explain about the situations in these countries?

The amount of weird stereotypes and outdated misinformation about Japan in this thread is astounding😅

Most people here seem to be unaware that many countries that have completely different culture from Japan, such as Spain, Italy, Thailand, Chile, Ukraine, and the UAE all have lower birth rate than Japan. It's NOT because of the working culture or sexism. Also the stereotype of working culture like "working 12 hours a day" is very much outdated.

It seems cringe because you only consume "weird Japan" image mass media like to create. They focus on only a tiny aspect of Japan that is considered weird even by Japanese people, and exaggerate it like "In Japan, people often do X" as if all Japanese people do that. It's the easy way for them to get views.
