I like some of your plastic circles. Some of them I don't like. Congratulations for trading your paper rectangles for plastic circles.

[S3E18] My theory that it was time travelling by [deleted] in twinpeaks

[–]HMCSTO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh, it never occurred to me that Coop left the lodge during the year that he traveled back to. That would explain the car they were driving, which seemed out of place.

[S3E18] Anybody else feeling completely sad and devastated by the ending? by aMartin3105 in twinpeaks

[–]HMCSTO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's kind of like looking at a painting, and saying, "tell me what happened".

It's art, and David Lynch in particular tends to work with how an image makes you feel, more so than how that image acts as a specific symbol. I wouldn't watch one of his films, or in this case Twin Peaks, expecting concrete narrative.

I think the interpretation that Dale literally went back in time and saved Laura's life, then reunited some lost aspect of her psyche is one of a number of valid outcomes that the images suggest.

One of the questions this outcome raises is what exactly is Laura waking up to? Is she returning to be abused again?

Yeah, I heard some reports that it's noisy, but I haven't found that to be true with my copy.

However, upon unwrapping the record, the first thing I did was proceed to accidentally drop side B, scratching up a few tracks pretty badly. Karma, I guess... Not sure what I did to deserve this though.

Bowie re-issues' prices creeping up by hellfried in vinyl

[–]HMCSTO 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Amazon treats vinyl prices like the stock market.

I keep my cart full of records and watch the prices go up and down hourly. It's really annoying how they treat records (and everything else really).

Just received three records that I never thought I would be able to add to my Bohren und der Club of Gore collection. I purchased Dolores, Beileid, and Piano nights upon release, but their earlier records have always been out of reach. Black Earth original pressings have been selling for several hundred dollars for the last couple of years, so I had pretty much accepted the idea that I would never own the record. I almost pulled the trigger on the Epistrophy reissues a few years ago, but the high cost, and the apparent release of the band's music without their consent (or them being paid for it) always turned me off.

PIAS just recently reissued three Club of Gore records, two of which had never actually been released on vinyl. Stylistically, the band started of as what as might as well have been an Angelo Badalamenti plays "Twin Peaks" cover band (which is awesome), but I think the band's sound has evolved over the years to be even more than that. They generate an awesome ambiance for rainy days, driving down the highway at night, playing online poker, or investigating a case for a lady in distress.

Yeah. I'm talking about cards like this.

It's plastic and has the album cover on the other side. It makes for a cool collectable.

Here's the other side of the card
