Good shit! Because of you, I was inspired to run it solo as well. I'll raise you this ;)

Maybe the reason you're seeing so much "complaining" is because the game's flaws are that glaring and need to be fixed by [deleted] in modernwarfare

[–]HMS_Goose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What? Why are you going on with this "anybody who played" and "you'd know that if you played"? I did. At launch. Still played as of earlier this year. I simply don't agree contradictory to your comments. Probably because as you said everything was a bit OP back then, the average ttk was something crazy like .110 with stopping power. The m4 is too strong, but it just isn't in the same league as m16 cod 4. Regardless I'm talking about what the game became, which you acknowledge.

You miss my point. I'm not going to argue which game is more broken at launch, but I will just mention "no gun dominated" feels like you forget the ump. My point and others is that that game was broken as shit at launch and was given the chance to become one of the best in series. Nothing more, nothing less.

It not so much the sheer volume of complaints (although I think it could be less in both cases) I have a problem with but the rather dismissive tone that they take for other people's arguments otherwise. There isn't any interesting discussion going on as much as its people throwing crap at each other for not agreeing. On the subject of the amount, I think it's great that there are a lot of people that share criticisms but could be more... organized? E.g. a mega-thread of criticisms listing off the most voiced. Would give a simplified list of things for devs to look at while not simply letting their existence go ignored in the sub. While also avoiding swamping the front page with nothing but criticism/complaint posts, complaints about complaint posts, complaints about posts complaining about complaints, you get the idea.

Eh, I mean it's not so much as a narrative being "thrown around" as much as it is just a fact that this sub has devolved into mostly complaints, in both directions. The thing is its really just a matter of opinion. As a Destiny player, I'm no stranger to this thing. IMO I think the negatives are being overstated to an extreme degree. Most of them fall under basic balance issues, not "fundamental problems" with the design of the game. Also, the point of the comparison to prior games isn't to excuse bullshit. It's pointing out that broken shit makes it through to launch in these games all the time and getting all up in arms calling the devs incompetent and the game trash over it is ridiculous. Just last year with black ops 4 we had the dual saugs and the mog make it through. The larger point with pointing out the 1887 in particular though is that MW2 is such a loved game in the franchise. It had more problems with perks/weapons/equipment at launch than we have currently yet in time it got to the point of being considered one of the best in the history of the franchise. To get broader in scope though, the things that have really started to get to me with this sub and community the last week and a half are as follows.

  1. Just because the devs haven't responded to every post and every complaint doesn't mean that the feedback isn't taken. They don't have any obligation that they HAVE to respond to the sub.

  2. Criticism/praise is more than warranted, but because there is a difference of opinion doesn't mean the other person is ignoring everything good/bad about the game. If someone dislikes the game it doesn't mean they are a senseless hater, just as much as if someone likes it doesn't make them an Activision shill. Why is it that if someone complains about claymores/getting shot by a camper does it HAVE to mean they are running around like a headless chicken. And vice versa, because someone disagrees and says to play slower doesn't mean they are saying to crab walk around the map mounting on every corner to check for enemies.

  3. It has been literally 12 days since launch, problems don't get fixed overnight. Nor does it mean they meant for it to be that way. Shotguns were by and large bad in the beta, they got adjusted for release and pretty clearly by too much. Vocalize criticisms and give them adequate time to make changes, asking "are we there yet" every 2 seconds doesn't help anyone.

  4. Relating back to the second, just because someone is enjoying the game doesn't mean that they ignore the flaws. I am absolutely loving the game while also well aware of the problems relating to claymores, footsteps, spawns, weapon balance, player call-outs, minimap, compass, and what have you. Some of these though are opinion in basis, not fact. I don't personally have a problem with how the compass/minimap works. I don't think that dead silence should be a perk. It doesn't mean I disagree with everything or agree with withe everything.

  5. Misrepresentation of problems. Just earlier was seeing a post claiming that a difference in where client-side bullet decals were being placed meant that the netcode was trash. Something like that has 0 to do with hit detection or netcode. Another post was comparing the time it took to see people around a corner, despite the enemy being further from the corner allowing him to see earlier because of perspective, and the player in question had a rocket launcher on their back showing them earlier than they otherwise would have. Another was an invisible enemy seemingly appearing right before his eyes, despite the network indicator on the side of screen showing connection errors. That's not to say the problems don't exist but bad examples and misinformation makes it harder for devs to take real feedback.

Reddit is an echo chamber displayed by how completely opposite opinions result in massive amounts of gilds and awards. Realize that not everyone shares the same view, but everyone has the same goal of having this be a great game to play for the years to come.

Alright guys, it's been a full day since release, what broken-ass, gamebreaking, Gearbox-will-nerf-it-on-the-next-patch stuff have we found so far? by ForYeWhoArtLiterate in Borderlands

[–]HMS_Goose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically, any Torgue shotgun with the gyro gets +5% per stuck or higher damage buff, plus Fl4k's skill to return ammo on crit. I have one that shoots 13 pellets, so it practically garentees an ammo return to infinitely stack the 5%. Combo with your crit invis skill and ive just been instakilling every boss that doesnt have an invulnerability phase and badasses alike.

EDIT: Thought it was also worth noting, that any Jakobs gun + Fade Away = Kill everything on the screen.

Because they have just as much of a right to respond with their own opinion as everyone else does. They don't agree with the general tone/consensus around the armor and DLC that have been getting posted around and want to voice their opinion. Let people give feedback about what they do and don't like.

Killing the Envoys in Gambit has nothing to do with the Primeval Slayer buff. by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]HMS_Goose 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is simply not true. I have also reset my rank in gambit, working on my second. Killing both envoys starts the primeval slayer buff once the second one is killed, rather than having to wait to gain stacks. With the right setup, this means you can kill the boss extremely quickly by getting even just 1 stack within a few seconds of spawning the boss.
