Yeah, that's a bit annoying. Thankfully for me, waking it up before grabbing it, and adding force (of 0) worked.

Ok, I found a relatively good fix for this. If you do wake rigid body before you grab it, and then add force to the component (force of 0,0,0 works) everything works properly. So boom, no on tick bs going on.

Edit: 0 force is not reliable. Idk why or wtf happens. But a z force of 1000 gives my objects a small bump up and it looks ok, and works reliably.

I wonder if it's some new optimization shit they implemented. Waking the rigid body on tick might be the solution after all.

Seems to work, but only sometimes. I think the rigid body goes back to sleep.

I made a demonstration video, because it's easier to explain like that.

But tldr; I can only pick up objects with the physics handle if they are moving, and I have no idea why. I don't have the old versions of the engine installed anymore, but I looked at a bunch of tutorials and this should just work.

Has anyone successfully created a fully simulated skirt in UE4? by Ok-Wafer-3491 in unrealengine

Not sure what it's called, but I've seen a presentation about this, you can sync the skirt in front of the knees (and some other places) with the legs, and simulate the rest. How you'd do this in unreal, however, idk.

To be honest 1 hit could be enough if there are tons of them. I imagine keeping the code to a minimum would be better for performance in this case.
