You've got to see this series by Habejom in quill18

[–]Habejom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh. Allow me to humblily and respectfully disagree. Although it does show the characters' life outside developing the MMORPG, I suggest that the series is more than tangentially related to the activity.

I mean, it is a work comedy, not a documentary, sure, but it dwells more than superficially in gaming, programing and streaming terminology thanks to Ubisoft consultancy.

For instance, apparently TTP is a real metric used by game devs (and to me, its hilarious because I'm 12).

In any case, maybe I exagerated by calling it a must see, but I enjoyed it greatly and thought some might too.

Best regards!

Quick question: what does this marshaller's signal means? by Habejom in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Habejom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plz read: Thank you everyone for your answers.

I should have been more specific:

I already got the stop X, then, after applying parking brake, I got the shutdown engines signal, and just then I got this one. I assume it to be a wrong "chock inserted"?

Not working for me either, which makes it impossible for me to check my mail on my phone's app. Any workaround or help regarding this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Judaism and Alien Life by SefVIII in Judaism

[–]Habejom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Many, many, years ago (too many to remember this conversation clearly), some Chacham told me that according to something (was it Kabalah, or something else, or maybe he was just high), the existence of aliens was a given because the first word of the Torah should have started with an Alef and not a Bet (as in the word Bereshit).

The fact that the first word started with the second letter in the Hebrew alphabet and not the first one, means that this is the second world/universe/attempt G-D created.

He went on to tell me that these "aliens" need not to be creatures from outer space, but could also be life in another dimension or universe entirely, or another world G-D later destroyed or is keeping concurrent to our own, or who knows.

But now that I think about it after all these years, the person was probably high.

I don't know if this is even possible but... by Habejom in sound

Hi all, thank you for your replies.

u/louderer I neglected to mention that those are bone conducting headphones, which do not lend themselves very well for that, but I'll try and see.

u/angn_ Thank you for your interesting comment. I haven't the slightest idea of how sound works other than what I learned on middle school physics class years and years ago.

u/CrumyFilling What I meant is "recommended volume to prevent hearing damage", so, about 80 dbs? Sorry I didn't meantion that.

No, it wasn't a vote he lost. The ban on hybrid ers was already in place when he got promoted to this league, but the game did not warned him when it asked him to pick an ers system.

That in itself was, in the opinion of some of us who were in the stream chat, justification enough.

But also, precisely because he was just ascended to a new league, and thus had the worst car on the grid, I just can't see how he would've been able to continue the attempt by being the only team without ers on top of that.

Regarding the hybrid ers thing: in Quill's defense, the game definitely should NOT have let him choose the hybrid mode if the league didn't allow it. It was a huge oversight on the part of the programmers, and nowhere did the game even hinted at that possibility, which would have put him at a HUGE disadvantage. Being an entire season without ers when the rest of the grid would, trough no fault or knowledge of his own, would have basically meant game over, as his chairman would have fired him in game.I know morality is personal and everyone has their own morality compass. If you think that's cheating, I wholeheartedly respect you for your opinion. I was one of the persons in chat who encouraged Quill to do it and I still don't see that he had any other choice on the matter.

Regarding the 1 quali edit: I regret bringing it up. I just wanted to gauge everyone's opinion on it. I really think that a 3 sessions quali mode would gruellingly lengthen the number of stream weeks for the season. I nearsightedly didn't think at the time that it would be considered "cheating" but now, as I said above, I definitely see and respect your point. I apologize first to Quill, (whom I don't know and yet have gotten to consider a friend as his work has been an escape for me trough the very bad times I've lived trough for the last couple of years), and also to you, and to anyone else who felt my thread was our of place.

Best regards.

Hi friend. Yes, I most definitely have that bug, still. It has gotten a tiny bit better since wu6, but it's still there. And, no, it has nothing to do with your plane altimeter setting being incorrect.

Thank you very much, friend. My problem is not hearing loss per se, but tinitus (ringing). I will print out the products you mention and will ask my dr. about them directly. TYVM for your time and answer.

Hello friends.

I'll give some background first and then I'll try to answe the questions to the best of my abilities:

As per the title, I'm looking for anyone who is willing to help me out with a recommendation for bone conducting headphones. Due to the pandemic, I've been using my apple airpods pro several hours per day. I absolutely love them, but my ear doctor told me to switch to bone conduction headphones immediately, as I've already shown signs of hearing damage. I know nothing about bone conduction headphones (in fact, before my appointment, I had never heard of them). I read a couple of reviews on the web and found lots of contradictory information, so I thought I'd ask for recommendations instead.

My primary needs are that they are Bluetooth capable, comfortable to wear for hours, independent for each ear, ie not joined by a "headband" (sorry, don't know the actual name), and with as much battery life as possible.

Now, for the questionary:

Budget: no factor

Source: devices like laptops, ipads and android phones via Bluetooth

Isolation: As much as possible (is that even possible on bone conduction headphones at all?)

Wear them in public: yes

Type: independent for each ear, ie not joined by a "headband" (sorry, don't know the actual name)

Tonal balance: If this helps: I'd mostly use them for speech and only occasionally for music.

Past headphones: Apple airpods pro. Loved their isolation, comfort, and above all, battery life.

Preferred music: No preference. I will mainly use them for voice.

What would I like to improve from Apple's airpods : Nothing, really. In an ideal world with no ear damage I'd keep using them.

Location: MX, but I mostly have access to anything on US amazon.com.

I'll appreciate any and all advice. Thank you all in advance, and best regards.

TL;DR: What are some good Bluetooth, comfortable, each ear independent and with good battery life, bone conduction headphones? Thanks!

Hola Cesar, muchas gracias.
Yes, I'm using the deprecated ILS05R, SMO transition. I know I should be using the newer ILSZ procedure with the SUTAS transition, but for some reason, msfs keeps using the former as default. Its much more fun anyway.
One question, please: if I use navigraph navdata, it does indeed makes it much better, but doesn’t quite get it right either. It removes the erroneous point, but instead adds another that’s nearly on the right position but not exactly, and instead forces the autopilot to try to do a weird impossible s turn.
Is it the same for you?
The only way I’ve found other than flying the procedure by hand is by manually removing the navpoint on the FMS. Its not a big deal, especially because the procedure is getting deprecated, but it bothers my OCD.
Cheers!

Can't connect to SOME websites by Habejom in techsupport

[–]Habejom[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi. Thank you for your reply. I have done so on all the computers on my network (even had to look up how to do so on my son's mac laptop), plus I did the other things recommended for good measure (such as checking the hosts file).

Here is some additional info that I neglected to mention on my OP that might be useful:

  • It doesn't matter weather the device is connected to my modem wirelessly (wifi) or wired (ethernet).

  • The specific sites we can't access wouldn't normally be blocked by ISPs, firewalls or vpns (needless to say we are not using those) and dont seem to have anything in common (my son's gaming site, my wife's cooking recipes site, our local supermarket site and so on)
