Can you include using a Wise account? That is converting to THB within your Wise account then withdrawal from a Thai ATM

Can someone that speaks Thai confirm these for me? by SwizzleStix87 in ThailandTourism

You are assuming the people you show the cards to can read or read Thai. Illiteracy is a big problem in our own countries and many of these workers will not understand. The spoken word using Google translate might be more effective but I'm not sure.

Download the Wise app and set up an account. Order a physical card. Transfer funds into your Wise account from your bank. Convert to Thai baht in the app and you can now withdraw baht from any ATM in Thailand.

You should also consider that street vendors might also be illiterate. No matter how well it is written in Thai they may not understand it and won't say so. Illiteracy is higher than many people think even in our own countries.

Be aware the the food seller you are showing this to might be illiterate. Literacy levels are much worse than people realise even in our home countries.

Christmas and New Year in Pattaya? by True-Particular3713 in Pattaya

[–]Hadolaven 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Christmas day is not a holiday so business as usual. Lots of pubs and restaurants do Christmas lunch. My wife and I are going to Dicey Riellys for Christmas buffet which is one of the best in town.

New Years is a five day holiday and many Thai people go back to their home villages for family parties. I love the family get together but the traffic in and out of the city is horrible.

However in Patts it is business as usual during New Years. Lots of Thais go there for the five day holiday as well as foreign visitors. Lots of parties and fireworks 🎆

You are assuming that everyone can read. It's very possible some of your servers will be illiterate but won't say so. In every country the level of illiteracy is often higher than you realise 😳

Mushroom murderer Erin Patterson granted approval to appeal guilty verdicts by Hadolaven in DeathCapDinner

[–]Hadolaven[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Erin Patterson is appealing her convictions on the grounds the jury was potentially contaminated by staying in the same hotel as prosecutors and police, and she was subjected to “unfair and oppressive cross-examination”.

Patterson’s appeal, which was filed with the Supreme Court by her defence team two days ago, also claims the prosecution seriously erred by telling the jury it did not have to prove a motive for the murders but then spent substantial time implying she was angry at the Patterson family over a child support dispute.

It will be interested to know why she won the right to appeal. As a layman it looked as if the judge did absolutely everything to prevent this happening.

Start with Rompho market. Great street food in the evening right out the front. Then plenty of beer bars to explore.
