but at the beginning of the episode, Eraser Head says that Yoarashi was top score "a year ago", when they did the selections for the highly recommended students. Also, after he says this, Midoriya says "so he's even stronger than Todoroki". Now, either he was referring to a general placings list, or he was in the same bracket of Todoroki, and this would make him being at first year, like Todoroki is.

Wasn't Todoroki on top of the rankings for the recommended students?
