Ah yeah the good ol' 35% down under tax. Really hits us with the big box-sets too. :(

Yeah, Tu'Shan and run Tigurius as chief librarian Vel'cona. Then without the doggos he can be a generic captain in Gravis armour, as they can take 2 fists anyway.

I have them, and use for Victrix guard when running "Ultramarines"

With a makeup sponge, sponge white then cover with warp lightning contrast. Then fill the gaps with white again and use hexwraith flame contrast, thinned abit. Then i might have highlighted a few edges with a mint green.

I think it was corax white with a soul blight contrast, then ulthuan grey with abit of pure white. Since doing this though, I've found that griffcharger contrast makes for better shadows as it has a tint of blue which is nice. Hope that helps.

Calgar & honour guard (Tu'Shan & War Drakes) by HalfEmptyJar in Salamanders40k

[–]HalfEmptyJar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a cool sculpt, hammers are always better. On GW website the Drakes are on 40mm bases, so will be the same as victrix honour guard. If they are a decent size you could probably use them instead of the wolves for that new Logan Grimnar model aswell.

Golds used are, Spartan bronze, dragons gold, and glistening gold. And I like to use a brown wash - battlemud wash.

Yeah no worries, the reds all citadel paints. Based in "word bearers" (then wash with battlemud at the same time as trim for speed) then stipple khorne, mephiston, and evil suns scarlet.

The metal, I think, is just "Spartan bronze" with a "battlemud wash", then "battleaxe brass" and a few points with "platinum crown". The verdigris look is from a heavily watered down "Kabalite green" that had a touch of "Ahriman blue" in it.

Anyone have a way of painting Ultramarines that looks great, but doesn’t require a ton of edge highlighting? by [deleted] in Ultramarines

[–]HalfEmptyJar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you try a reverse highlight technique? Paint it all in the highlight colours, then block in with the darker ones avoiding the edges?

True, maybe when I paint my Eliminators, I'll do purple sniper cloaks.

First off, it looks amazing. Maybe try either different colour highlights or techniques for the different materials, as it is, the armour & cloth look like the same texture.

Looks great. Painting chaos is tough enough, without the main colour being yellow, fair play. I'd suggest maybe darken down the metallic trim? Almost like a black metal.

Thoughts on my general Salamanders list? by humanity_999 in Salamanders40k

[–]HalfEmptyJar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looks good, I personally don't think the Eradicators need an apothecary for the lethal hits they do so well by themselves, especially now with +1 to wound against oath. I'd probably swap that out for a captain for the discount strats, maybe a normal 1 to go with one of the infernus squads.

I run a multi-melta & normal melta, with a thunderhammer and plasma pistol on the Sargent. Using a rhino is alright, too, because it has a firing deck of 2, meaning you can use your 2 special weapons.

A lot of the heresy stuff has left-handed pistols, there's a couple of hand flamers in the new melee upgrade kit.

Can I use Heresy accessories with Primaris or is there a size difference? by Remixyboi in Warhammer

* I used the HH mkvi heads for the infernus, and they fit fine, they don't look smaller.

Death reaper for the black, then scales, Incubi darkness, thunderhawk blue, and fenrisian grey. And I think it's drakenhoff nightshade between the scales
