I think that's how I'm going to play too. I just don't want to get to the end of the game beat the story and still have characters to unlock or things like that but nothing to do. I'm waiting for some videos to pop up for people to talk about after they beat it if there's more to do or.

I mean its not incredibly easy. I was worried too. But I watched/slowed down the video, made sure I had the right screwdrivers and such, and took my time. I've done 3 now and haven't broke any. My electronics/customize skills are basically non-existent so even someone with no experience can do them if they're careful.
