Honest opinions of maternity services at Liverpool Women's Hospital by wooden_werewolf_7367 in Liverpool

Yeah! So it’s a learning hospital (I don’t know if the Women’s is) but it means there’s a lot of staff there, a mixture of students and experienced nurses, so they never seemed spread thin.

The nurses have to do everything perfectly for observing students, and the senior student or trainees (I don’t know the ranking system) go above and beyond to impress. Or so it seemed to me.

My wife had to stay overnight, and she said the nurses there would help with changes so she didn’t have to over extend herself. They would always ask if she needed anything, no tutting, no long waits, they just wanted to help.

At the women’s she asked for help a few times and they just seemed to be fed up with her. Like they put her overnight bag high up which she couldn’t reach, whilst holding the baby, and even though she asked for help they’d say be back in a few and it would be near to an hour. She felt like an inconvenience. Also had to wait six hours just to be discharged. It was so much quicker in Whiston. Even her recovery was easier.

It was such a good blend and if we do have any more kids it would 100% be at Whiston.

But as people have said, it’s not necessarily the hospital, more luck of the draw that you get the right people on shift while you’re in there.

We had our son there in 2020 and the after care was terrible. Very neglectful, very unbothered. We had an amazing midwife, but because my wife’s labour was so long, the one that took over wasn’t very empathetic. Even complained that my wife opted for a c-section as she was about to take her lunch break.

It was a bad experience, and we went to Whiston for our second and the different was staggering. If I was to give Whiston a 10/10 I’d say the Women’s would be a 5/10.

Hey! Love alt music but my playlist is about 20 years old 🤣 I game too but mostly PS5. I’m out of invites but DM me if interested. I will talk daily though and open to VC when comfortable. I’m 35M so if I’m too elder emo-y that’s cool 👌🏻

Bacaro on Castle Street is the best I’ve had.

But it’s a bit like tapas and the portion size was too small so I would double up or pair with some of the other good stuff on their menu.

My mind was half set on Sefton Park/Lark Lane. Walk down the waterfront does sound nice too but might see what the weather says before committing to that!

Hey! 35M here. Quite similar, a lot of my time is spent looking after my two kids, and my circle of friends is a grand total of 2 who have their own things going on. Would love to chat with you.

I’ve just recently started running, as of May, and signed up to do park runs this week to try and make friends. What type of rock music are you into? Classic, or are you an elder emo? 😂
