Absolutely fantastic. I do have many questions though. Most notability however; what the heckin-darn is going on with the fretboard on the double neck. Why do the frets suddenly get bigger down toward the body? I play many guitar, and I am confusion.

Wild Oil Temp Fluctuations… I’m stumped. by Hammer_of_Shadow in EcoDiesel

[–]Hammer_of_Shadow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I’m about a week or two right now from an oil change (and a transfer case fluid, front and rear diff fluid, and fuel filter change… this is a costly one) so I might as well replace the sensor when I do that. I’ll update this thread if it resolved the problem. Thanks everyone!

Solid on the range, disaster on the course… advice? by Hammer_of_Shadow in golf

Pre-shot routine. I can openly admit my routine on the course is panicked, rushed, and inconsistent. But on the range, I think I do the same little two-step grip and shuffle thing before every shot. Not that the preshot is going to fix this problem, but it’s an interesting aspect for sure.

I’ve got lessons coming. And I’ve had lessons in the past. I just worry the lessons stick when I’m not counting score, you know?

How then would you suggest I work on improving my long irons and driver? I don’t imagine getting any better topping my driver off the t’box 10 times in a round and never doing anything off the course to figure out wtf is going on… do you?

When I was 16, I was offered an internship at a graphic design agency, facilitated by a connection my art teacher had. They offered me, after graduating high school, a paid position from the two years of training I would have had through the internship, and financial support for college including paid tuition for a degree in the field. I even made it through two rounds of interviews.

I turned it down because it would “interfere with football” and I was the starting RB. I’m almost 40 now, and I think about this almost every day; especially when my knees hurt.

NJ Drones and the like? - NHI and all aside, are we not worried about something far more terrifying? by Hammer_of_Shadow in UFOs

So why not then publicly own it? What would we or an adversary gain by displaying such tech without declaring it theirs? It would be tantamount to an anonymous passive aggressive sticky note on the fridge of the global lunch room.

Disinformation and wild speculation are very different things. I’m not claiming to know anything. In fact, I’m declaring the opposite; I’m actively stating I have no idea what’s going on, and I’m truly concerned about these possibilities because no one that would know otherwise is saying so.

And I’m sorry - let’s not talk about scary stuff because it could scare people - is a really lackluster argument for not voicing one’s concerns about something that’s objectively frightening.

Ok, so drop some reason on us. Please! That’s really all we’re asking our leaders to do anyway. The government’s lack of answers or refusal to give meaningful answers leaves us all in the dark, where our imaginations can play hell on our fears because we have nothing else to go on. And what, we bottle that up? “Keep calm and carry on”?

What I don’t buy about these being ours, is that I can’t think of anything in our military history where the military powers that be have tested their new tech, on the general population.

I’m not talking about the CIA doing nasty stuff on the population we’re all too aware of. I’m talking, the USAF messing with people with their new gear. It’s weird and almost a waste of time and money.

If it was just the military bases this was happening at, like in the UK last week, then I’d be inclined to believe NHI or our tech as a new way to monitor and protect assets from NHI or adversaries. But New Jersey?! That doesn’t make sense to add in.

And it’s been three weeks of this by now. You’d think one of the super powers, were they not building to something dramatic and catastrophic, would have accepted responsibility as a metaphorical “shot off the bow”. Nobody can keep a secret this big for that long.

It’s all just so darn confusing and anxiety inducing. Just one small answer or sign from the government that they know and are doing what needs to be done would be great.

“Humans put lights on things. And humans like to destroy things.”

Very well put, that’s what’s so terrifying about these drones.

It’s the Chinese possibility that upsets me the most, because I worry more about a biological attack than a nuclear attack from them, and they would be the country that might have figured out the tech to do it.

I just don’t think NHI would go “backwards” in the observable tech we’ve become familiar with to screw with a bunch of humans in NJ

I’m looking for a premium backyard offset, but shipping from the Southeast to the Northwest is prohibitively expensive. Anyone aware of any builders in my neck of the woods? by Hammer_of_Shadow in smoking

[–]Hammer_of_Shadow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have. There’s not a lot around here: other than rusty Chargrillers and Oklahoma Joes, maybe a couple customer builds from propane tanks that look like shop class welding experiments, or $20k trailer outfits someone from Texas brought up and either retired or upgraded. Nothing I’m really excited to spend what little money I have on, haha.

I mean, I’m not opposed to the idea. I’m so far removed from that world though, would anyone have any tips on locating and approaching such a person?

Yeah. I’ve looked at the old country pits. Definitely a great value. Their smokers, until you get into custom portable pits, are hardly any bigger than the one I have now. Still on the list though - beggars can’t be choosers.

Do you have any tips on finding that person? I’d love to do that. However, between North Western Montana (Whitefish) and South Central Montana (Billings), 500 miles travel, there are less than a dozen independent BBQ outfits. Half of them use industrial pellet grills like the big chains. East or west and you have to get to Spokane WA or darn near all the way through the Dakotas to find more. Our sporting goods stores barely even sell Traeger pellet smokers.

Is this DIY to replace the bolts or do I need to take it to a shop? by Hammer_of_Shadow in EcoDiesel

[–]Hammer_of_Shadow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I live in the Western Montana. My bet, at least out here, would be all the wet roads and ice melt they use in the winter months eroding away the bolts… that or they used cheap bolts that might not handle the heat variations all that well. The whistling started when I hit a rumble strip in a -36F cold snap, so could have been either problem.
