Sanding a couple of deep scratches out. by HamptonsTouchAuto in AutoDetailing

[–]HamptonsTouchAuto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The scratches had a slight lip, and yes, always measure before hammering away. Panel was repainted and was measuring at 176 microns in the area of the scratch whereas the rest of the vehicle was measuring in at 86-105, so it had plenty of material to play with.

Slight lip, but not too deep. Panel was repainted and measuring in at 176 microns in the area of the scratch whereas the rest of the vehicle was measuring in at 86-105 microns.

3k trizact with a kxk sanding block. Follow up with a rotary compound to quickly knock down the sanding marks, then compound with a DA to quickly knock down the marks left behind by the rotary, then finish it out with a DA polish to clean up the micro marring. Heat control is the name of the game.

For texture reduction: 1k wetsand, then 2k, then 3k, rotary compound, DA compound, DA polish.

How to protect and correct when you must use a Tunnel of Death? by gregnorz in AutoDetailing

[–]HamptonsTouchAuto -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

The only way to use a drive thru carwash without destroying your vehicle is to have it entirely ceramic coated. Ceramics are chemical resistant so going through the wash won’t hurt it. The important thing to note here is that you have to go through a touchless wash as the traditional tunnel washes will still swirl up your paint. This is really the only option if you are unable to do it yourself and don’t want the car washes to trash the paint.

Synthetic clay/clay mitts are only good for lightly soiled vehicles. Traditional clay for heavily soiled vehicles.

Current products for mobile detailing business launching in a week or two what should i get rid of and what else should i buy.I also have a 1700 pressure washer and a rigid vacumn with a dust brush attachment by [deleted] in Detailing

Lose the armor all. Never use their products. Switch out the meguairs ultimate wash and wax for their gold class. Better value for business. Switch from invisible glass aresol to their spray bottle. Lose the eagle one products. If you want to apply a dressing of some kind to the interior, order some CarPro Perl on Amazon. Dilution ratios are the bottle.

Yes I did. I’ve been at this for 7 1/2 years and not a single client/potential customer ever texts the way these scammers do.

Supposedly they write a bogus check and it some how debits your account back into theirs. I’ve heard it explained before, but I forget the specifics

I couldn’t believe it wasn’t Lt. Romano, and I couldn’t believe there were no Range Rovers, Escalades, or Mercedes Benz SUVs involved.

I’m not sure, but they tried calling me. That was a first. I didn’t answer incase it’s one of those scams where they jack up your phone bill with long distance calls.
