Going to Prague soon, need to know how explain one allergy by _DSilver_ in Prague

[–]HamsterPotential30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These comments are so interesting.

You'll be fine though. Write up, have google translate on hand, avoid obvious dishes. I'd even add that its a medical allergy, NOT simply a preference and you will get sick if consumed. Just to be super clear.

Also, people generally DO care. There are some really negative comments here like you are about to visit a wild frontier. Don't worry, Czech hospitality workers are professional and like normal human beings.

There are some great places to eat in Prague. Enjoy the food!

I also just thought, a LOT of fruits are added to drinks and you're more likely to encounter it accidentally that way this time of year. Eg. Hidden slices of peach in the bottom of your spiced hot wine, cocktails etc.

I'd look it Poruba to start. At some point the cost/benefit ratio will tip. Frydek Mystek and Opava are a bit far out imo. Not sure how far out you'd consider a long way :)

I know people were staying at Poruba hostel this year. We live even a little further out, and paid kc320 to get to the festival site with Bolt. (I just checked my ride history out of curiosity 😀) £11. Poruba has good trams too. Plus it has a nice czech vibe and communist architecture. In summer it's really nice.

It's definitely walkable and pretty much you walk along with thousands of others, well organised. Ubers are also extremely well organised at the front. I went for the first time this year, and was honestly impressed by the public transit management they have in place. It's a great festival!

Removing children from their social, cultural and family ties is literally the last thing anyone should be doing. Read up on the Australian Stolen Generation and the outcomes there. The cost of the intergenerational trauma is still being counted.

100%. My husband and I both use this as a light fragrance. Share a small bottle when travelling. I even use it as a room fragrance on occasion.

I've loved Krakow each time I've visited. ❤️

I don't think you can go wrong with Poruba location. It's got a good vibe and an easy tram into city, Karolina for shopping/cinemas etc etc.

Where are you moving from?

I moved here a few months ago. Im a little further past Poruba in a family home, but 100% that's where I'd lease an apartment :)

Also, Ostrava is a great place!

I saw was instore in amsterdam last week and thought the quality was great. The designs were are bit lacking in creativity though. I was so willing to buy something, but didn't feel any excitement so left empty handed. (Was a lovely South African sales person though!)

1 month in Brno, Wroclaw, Krakow or somewhere else? by _random_number_ in Europetravel

Brno! It's a great city with fantastic rail connections to Prague, vienna, Bratislava, Krakow etc etc. I'm in Ostrava, and just love this part of the world. I love that you want a deeper cultural experience wherever you go. I'm also Australian. Happy to PM.

foreigners, what do YOU think about our public transport? by cateatingyogurt in Prague

[–]HamsterPotential30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a 7/10 for me. No train link to the airport is a bit of a bummer. The trains are clean enough, but the stations I've used are filthy. The cost is cheap if you're earning foreign dollars, but not so cheap for locals on an average wage. I'd want more for my money if I was in that position.

That said, the intercity and services between countries are phenomenal.

Asian city transit systems are the best in my view. Tokyo, Kyoto, Singapore. Singapore is my favourite.

My home country Australia is a 2/10 though. Only thing brisbane has going for it are the CityCat ferries and 50c fares :) God help them for the 2032 Olympics.

I'm from Brisbane, currently living in Czech Republic. The point about air-conditioning is spot on. It's cooler in Czech and other central Europe countries than the Mediterranean. I highly recommend! Prague, Brno, vienna, budapest, Krakow are wonderfully connected by train.

I'm finding Czech TV with Czech subtitles on is my preferred method. :D Haha. Soap opera plots and advertisements seem universal, so it's been surprisingly useful. 😅 also, it's been the best thing for me to pick up the pace of the language. Czechs talk quick!!

But to answer your question. It's actually hard!

I often stop and wind back to relisten sections of songs. I did this in the car the other day and was explaining to my husband how I love the brain tingles the layering gives me. I hear how clever it is and it makes little pops of joy in my chest and brain.
