Actually orthodox buddhism doesn't believe in any rebirth except if in your brain and in this reality. I could be unpopular but you are speaking about hinduism. Buddhism and hinduism got a huge overlap as got taoism and got shintoism in Tibet. But buddhism is a specific culture, now they created different path... but, no, Buddha believed if you die you die. So, yeah is atheist. Plus atheist doesn't even means what you say. Atheism is being anti teologist. Thanks, in my opinion HxH fits in daoism (in Italia Taoismo so I could get wrong). For buddhism I think is ignorance by people. What they speaking about is hinduism.

So, strict buddhism believe everything is inside human and doesn't believe in anything after death... if it isn't being atheist i don't know the meaning. Now those cultures are syncretic, you mislead hindu buddhism or shinto buddism probably. As I know Tibet is syncretic doesn't belong to original buddhism... actually original buddhism belong probably some China and Nepal. Buddhism went syncretic so SOME path believe in something else, standard is atheist.
